GdS: Rabiot says goodbye to Juventus – Real Madrid keen but Milan ‘believe’

By Oliver Fisher -

Adrien Rabiot has decided that he will not accept the renewal offer on the table from Juventus and thus his story with the club is over. Now, AC Milan are among the potential

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Rabiot remained indifferent to the renewal proposal he received from Juve, which was a two-year contract at €7.5m net per season plus bonuses and an automatic renewal option for the third season.

The first signs of a rift were clear due to the silence in the pre-European Championship. Rabiot had promised clarity on his future before the competition, but did not keep his word and only after finishing the European Championship did he decide to decline.

Where will he go? The 29-year-old has never hidden the fact that he sees himself in the Premier League sooner or later, and the suggestion of Real Madrid remains alive because Carlo Ancelotti was the one who gave Rabiot his debut at PSG in 2012.

However, Milan also play a role in this story, because they spoke with his mother-agent Veronique a long time ago, they inquired about the salary and they ‘believe’ they can land him.

Of course, there is an underlying salary issue. Excluding Rafael Leao’s deal, Milan currently pay their stars a salary close to €4m net per year but this seems set to be raised and even still exception could be made for Rabiot.

  1. It would be a mistake to get him instead of Fofana. I hope we don’t freeze him for that. Rabiot can also come, but Fofana is a must.

  2. I don’t think Real Madrid needs a guy like Rabiot, even with Kroos retiring and Modric likely to have less time. I think it’s just rumors to make it look like many clubs want Rabiot.

  3. So.. he rejected 2 years contract worth 7.5M/season with automatic renewal on the third. Heard he’s holding out for 9M.

I’m indifferent whether he would end up with us, but let’s be realistic, are we gonna match that? If we offered less/equal to Juve’s offer, why would he accept that? Unless the French players are coordinating during Euro that they’re gonna lump together at Milan, like Messi and co at Inter Miami.

    1. Not having to pay a transfer fee might change some of the numbers on the salary front. But we would have to offload some players. Adli/Pobega/Benny…

    2. The contract length is also a consideration here. Juve only offered him two years on 7.5 million while Rabiot asked for a longer contract. Milan has offered him the same amount but on a 3-4 year deal so that’s an improved offer

  4. This player will NEVER join us unless he accepts 4-5 million a year offer.
Milan board already knows that but they want everyone to talk about us. That is why they are inserting Milan name into conversation.

  5. Without a transfer fee Milan can offer a higher salary however I think these links are over blown a little as I’m sure his camp was trying to pressure Juve. He’s probably looking for something like 4 yrs 6/7 million.

  6. I don’t understand why the management want to sign him. He is not bad, not super good either, but he is not the right profile. He is more a central midfielder, not a DM, and we already have Reijnders, Loftus Cheek, Pobega (we might need him for UCL quota), Musah, and still have Adli and Benacer who can be a central midfielder as well.

  7. Did he reject Juve’s proposal because it was too low?
Or because he doesn’t want to stay there anymore?

That’s the question that needs to be answered.

if he needs a change of scenery at sensible numbers, Milan could be an option, and frankly we could upgrade our midfield more with him.

But if he’s looking for a payout, then enjoy Saudia.

  8. 9m after that buffoonery show at Euros it is to LOL. Come on Adrien, what Juve offered you is ok, you should accept that because nobody will offer you more than that, even in the EPL. And also, your mom wants for sure a signing on fee which would be no less than 10m, so I dont see this as a good business
