GdS: Race against time for Tonali to make it for Europa League clash – the situation

By Nikita Fesyukov -

Sandro Tonali has been virtually a new AC Milan player for several days. The agreements with the player and with Brescia have been fully reached and the Rossoneri are now awaiting the final steps to complete the operation.

To formalize the transfer, medical examinations and the signature on the contract are missing. The 20-year-old is expected in Milano between today and tomorrow. If everything goes smoothly, his arrival on a loan with an option to buy can be officially announced within 48 hours.

In the meantime, Stefano Pioli would like to have Tonali available for the match against Shamrock Rovers in the Europa League preliminaries on September 17th. However, formalities will have to be speeded up for the young midfielder to feature in Ireland.

Gazzetta dello Sport (via milanlive.it) explains that Milan have until Thursday midnight to provide UEFA with the list of players to be used in the match at the Tallaght Stadium.

In this context, it must be noted that Tonali hasn’t trained since the end of the season. He did not train with Brescia due to some cases of Covid-19 positive players which forced him into isolation. He will not arrive at Milanello in peak physical condition and will have to work to get to the level of the other players.
