GdS: Raiola wants €40m release clause inserting into Donnarumma’s renewal – the latest

Mino Raiola wants to put a release clause in the contract of Gianluigi Donnarumma as a compromise regarding his salary demands, a report claims.

According to this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive), Milan have put a five-year deal on the table worth around €7.5million net per season, but Raiola wants €10m per year.

Not only that, but Raiola would like a shorter contract – one that does not exceed two years – so that he can be ready to negotiate on more favourable terms once the effects of the pandemic begin to subside.

A meeting point could be represented by the insertion of a release clause, and the paper claims that Raiola would like that figure to be fixed at around the €40m mark, an amount that seems low given that Donnarumma is a generational talent and is still only 21.

Time is slowly ticking away as the Italy international is in the final six months of his deal, so a solution must be found sooner rather than later to put everyone at ease.
