GdS: Rashford getting closer to Milan as Man Utd would accept dry loan

Marcus Rashford has been heavily linked with AC Milan in the last few days and the Rossoneri may have received an assist from Manchester United, according to a report.

Geoffrey Moncada and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are looking to reinforce the team after the poor start to the season. The appointment of Sergio Conceicao has seemingly changed things already, but it’s clear that reinforcements are needed as well to truly compete.

As reported by Gazzetta dello Sport this morning (see photo below), Rashford is getting closer to Milan and could be the first reinforcement. The forward, through his agents, has already expressed a willingness to move to Serie A over the Bundesliga.

Furthermore, Manchester United have now opened up to a dry loan, keen on finding a destination for the 27-year-old straight. This is a pretty significant assist for Milan, as they need to negotiate less with the club as well as the player (regarding his potential future contract).

The Red Devils will still contribute to the salary, as has been reported since the start, but it remains to be seen how much. Rashford earns around €14m per year and a six-month loan would thus cost €7m in wages, which is more than Milan pay for Leao per season.

Rashford’s agent also met with Barcelona in recent days to gauge their interest, but Milan are in a much better position financially. Furthermore, the compatriots Tammy Abraham, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Fikayo Tomori only have good things to say about the club.

Of course, it should also be remembered that Rashford and Ibrahimovic played together at Man Utd, establishing a pretty good relationship.

  1. Dry loan doesn’t really help us. We are tasks with rejuvenating a key player for another club without being compensated. To me this doesn’t make sense.

If we want a winger why don’t we look at Sane from Bayern who is free agent in summer. Much better than Rashford, a proven winner at Manc, Bayern & for Germany. With Thiaw he has a German friend in our roster, he a more clinical, versatile and technical player. Not sure why Moncada isn’t looking at him.

        1. Just because his girlfriend dropped the accusations doesn’t mean that there wasn’t anything to it so while we are at it why not also bring back Robinho who is about to serve a 9 year long rape sentence in Brazil.

          1. Yes former AC Milan player Robinho was convicted 9 years for a rape done in Italy with a friend while he played for us but will serve his time in Brazil as Brazilian laws allow that by now.

    1. It does if he finds firm, proves himself and propels us into the top 4, it would pay for itself then. I’m not saying that will happen, but that’s the upside potential.

  2. Where is he going to play :

Left wing – we have Leao, jimenez, Puli
Right wing – we have Puli,Chuku, jimenez, musah
CF – we have Morata, Abraham, Jovic, Camarda

So for all these millions, where will he fit in ???

We should concentrate on positions we need to fill, not someone who has no place in the team !!

    1. Of the eleven players you listed, only Leao and Puli are on Rashford’s level.

Rashford simply just needs to find form, he can easily be the best player in our team.

  3. I don’t see him in Milan as a long time solution, so I don’t mind the dry loan. What we need now is squad depth this second half of the season.

Imagine, for the next one month, the lads will be playing every 3-4 days.

Also, on the side of Rashford, it is more of an opportunity to rejuvenate his career before deciding on where he wants to play next.

    1. I agree and even though I personally would prefer a reasonable buyout clause included this deal makes fully sense to me as he is versatile and can cover several positions in the front line. Besides of that Okafor seems bound to leave us and Chukwueze is out for roughly the rest of the month and who knows might also leave towards the end of the transfer window. We have some good young players but they hardly offers the same certainties as an experienced but nevertheless still a fairly young player as Rashford does.
Then there is the whole reasoning that it would be costly to not qualify for cl next year and we would also increase our chances to progress further in this years cl.
Seems like a win win situation for us but only time will tell.

  4. I think a dry loan will be at our disadvantage. What if he explodes and we won’t get the chance to get him outright. We should not make the same mistake we did with Diego Dalot. We resurected his career but couldn’t finally get him because of this dry loan issue. We should have an option to buy.

    1. Dalot was not on a dry loan but we didn’t want to pay roughly 20 mil for him after the loan as our management had to spend the little cash it had wisely.

  5. Rashford operation may cost up to 7-10 million € till summer.

We need to climb 🪜 in standing as much as possible in Seri A and go further till Semi final in UCL. That would generate 20-30 million.

The board wants to close the year with UCL spot and extra budget for the next year.

We have only Leao on LW as a world class. He is not enough for that.

Rashford has explosive pace and physically strong. It’s like Marcus Thuram.

I am more than happy to have him rather than signing nobody or some random 20 million valued player.

    1. Well said buddy!

But the only 20m player we need right now is Goretzka of Bayern. I’ve been screaming for us to sign him. Dude wants out, and I also think he’s perfect in our midfield for the pressing style of game Conceicao likes to play.

      4-3-3
      With
      Reijnders – Fofana – Goretzka
      Midfield would be superb.

  6. That Milan will have more 3 English men, more than Italians for minutes played is unthinkable. I wish this would never happen. The Pulisic miracle won’t happen always. Why are we even thinking of of such a quack player

  7. Not keen…. Hopefully, Milan can squeeze a few months of goals out him then send him back. Long term, the player is a liability.
At present, I see too many Italians keeping the bench warm.
