GdS: Five reasons why Milan’s impressive win against Lazio was crucial

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan are in red-hot form. Following the wins against Hellas Verona and Cagliari, the Rossoneri made it three out of three with a strong performance against Lazio yesterday evening and it’s a crucial win for many reasons.

Christian Pulisic opened the scoring in the second half after a lovely move by Milan, passing through Yacine Adli, Tijjani Reijnders and Rafael Leao. In the dying minutes, Noah Okafor sealed the deal with a tap-in after a solo run by Leao.

Today’s edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport (via SempreMilan) has highlighted five reasons why the win is so important: 1) Milan are still in joint-first along with Inter after seven rounds, which wasn’t expected. 2) Three consecutive wins have allowed the players to put the derby fully behind them.

3) The key players are starting to shine again. Tijjani Rejinders, perhaps the most successful signing, did everything so well last night. Meanwhile, Rafael Leao bagged two great assists and Christian Pulisic got back on the scoresheet.

4) The reserves have impressed over the last three games and this was an important confirmation to Stefano Pioli, who now can rely fully on the players at his disposal. 5) Finally, they are now 11 points ahead of Lazio, who finished second last year and arrived at San Siro after bouncing back with a win.

  1. It seems Gazetta understand this sport a little better than some fans and this site. Look even here I quote:
“Christian Pulisic opened the scoring in the second half after a lovely move by Milan, passing through Yacine Adli, Tijjani Reijnders and Rafael Leao. In the dying minutes, Noah Okafor sealed the deal with a tap-in after a solo run by Leao”
So in the first goal we start as far as Adli just to mention him despite the fact that his pass was just a non critical for the attack, but for second goal we do not mention Pobega who provided excellent clinical cutting forward pass to Leao. Right.

    1. Clearly you dont like Adli which alright but you cant be serious about Pobega. Firstly at 0-0 t that stage were Lazio were deep defending that pass opened the situation. However it was not spectacular which it should not be painted as. But Pobega is usually terrible in any link up because the accuracy of his passes are Serie B level. ” exellent clinical cutting forward” now that is laughable for a straight forward pass in the 88th minute were their is a lot of space and not that hard to do. However he is a Milan player and all good he does should be appreciated
