GdS: Rebic poised to start another big game as Giroud is ready for the relay

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has been left to choose between two candidates for the centre-forward role against Atletico Madrid, a report claims.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) recalls how Rebic played an excellent game at Anfield, also scoring the goal to make it 1-1, but above all showing the strength, desire and determination to tackle a very tough challenge head on.

The Croatian is set to get the nod to start up front against Atletico too as the paper claims that Giroud – still not at his best condition – is ready to take over during the game. Ante loves the big games: two assists in the victory over Lazio, a goal away against Juventus and another against Liverpool.

Pioli knows he can count on Rebic, a player always ice cold in the key moments, and when the moment is right he will send Giroud on to try and secure a memorable result in Milan’s first home Champions League game for seven years.

  1. This is the sort of game where Giroud REALLY needs to step up, prove his quality and earn his salary. Milan can win, but needs big performances in both boxes. Atletico are still one of the top 7 or 8 teams in Europe, IMO.
