GdS: Rebic remains essential to Milan – he is not always clinical but keeps making a difference

Just as he did in the second half of last season, Ante Rebic is once again showing that he is absolutely vital to AC Milan.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes this morning, Rebic netted a fantastic goal in the first half against Genoa to move onto 6 league goals in 2021, compared to just one prior to the new year. He also should have scored with a close-range chance in the second half, so against Rebic showed the best and worst side of himself.

The paper writes that it is simply how Rebic is: a player capable of great plays but also of blunders and misses, yet he is immovable to Milan. While he is not the centre-forward that the Rossoneri need to fill the spot when Ibrahimovic is not there, but he is equally useful and essential, both in the build-up phase but also in getting to the right areas to finish.

Ante is not infallible, but he is definitely more clinical than Leao and he has an edge over his Portuguese colleague in terms of how decisive he is for Pioli.
