Davide Bartesaghi is expected to renew his contract with AC Milan at the end of the season, securing a significant pay rise, as a report claims.

One of the biggest positives this season has certainly been the growth and breakthrough of Bartesaghi, who has made the left-back spot his. Furthermore, at the age of 20, the feeling is that he still has a lot of growth in him (i.e. this can get a lot better).

He’s not expected to start in today’s game against Sassuolo, with Massimiliano Allegri opting for Pervis Estupinan instead, but his position certainly isn’t in doubt for next season. In fact, Milan are already counting on him as the permanent starter for them.

New deal in the summer

According to today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo at the bottom), to show how much they believe in him, Milan will table a contract renewal at the end of the season: a deal until 2031 with a significant pay rise, compared to the current €600k per season.

Given that he came through the youth ranks, Bartesaghi is a perfect player when it comes to the squad lists, i.e. one of the performs well and also doesn’t take up any of the 17 foreign slots. While the performances are the sole drivers of the renewal, it’s an important factor that shouldn’t be ignored.
