GdS: Revival of Milan’s interest in €25m Salzburg star Szoboszlai not excluded – the latest

By Oliver Fisher -

It cannot be excluded that AC Milan rekindle their interest in Red Bull Salzburg star Dominik Szoboszlai, according to a report.

After being heavily linked with an exit over the summer, Szoboszlai has started the 2020-21 season by picking up where he left off last season, amassing five goals and eight assists in 11 games across all competitions.

He scored against both Lokomotiv Moscow and Atletico Madrid in the group stages of the Champions League, and even netted a stunning free-kick against Hakan Calhanoglu’s Turkey for Hungary.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive) confirms that the 20-year-old will likely leave the Austrian club as early as January 2021. Milan have twice talked about the arrival of Szoboszlai, first with Zvonimir Boban when he was CFO and then through Ivan Gazidis when it appeared that Rangnick would be the new manager.

The newspaper does not rule out the idea of Milan reviving their interest in the player, who has a €25m release clause that is attracting the interest of Premier League and LaLiga clubs.

The Hungarian is perhaps not a priority because Milan are covered for the moment at left wing and in the playmaker spot, but he is an important talent and moves by Paolo Maldini should not be excluded.
