GdS: Romagnoli-Tomori pairing working well as Pioli now has options to evaluate

By Isak Möller -

Milan continued their pre-season with a draw against Nice last night as Olivier Giroud got on the scoresheet on his debut. At the back, Fikayo Tomori and Alessio Romagnoli continued to do well together.

Nice didn’t have a whole load of chances as the Rossoneri defence stood up well, dictated by Tomori and captain Romagnoli. The latter, for example, made an excellent tackle to stop a certain goal and looked very solid throughout the game.

As pointed out by Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews), Romagnoli seems focused and determined on getting back his starting spot. And along with Tomori, who continues to perform very well, a strong centre-back pairing has been formed.

The two, last season, played almost nothing together but this pre-season is certainly an indication that Stefano Pioli has options. Romagnoli’s future may be uncertain, but he won’t let that affect his performances and above all, the team.

  1. Please just renew Romagnoli. He’s a good CB who had a poor half season last year that’s it. Plus, we can’t lose him for free too…

    1. looks like that’s what he wants. romagnoli has learned from donnaruma and hakan c. trying to be better than before then leave milan for nothing. looking for a club that would pay him more than Milan offer.

      1. I don’t think you can compare these.. both hakan and gigio went to better clubs (i hate it but it’s true) and make more money now so… what has he learned from them??

In reality, the only thing that will matter is how much he really wants to stay, that’s it.

    2. Yeah exactly
      He is a too CB
I remember he and van dijk were the only 2 defenders not dribbled past by 3 seasons ago
And milan has a reputation of selling their players for below their actual value
Just look at cutrone.he was sold for just 18 mil when his value was 28 mil and with no contractual obligations
