GdS: Rising Rosario Central star the latest idea for Milan with €14m price set

By Oliver Fisher -

It seems that AC Milan do not consider their attacking department to be complete even after the signings of Noah Okafor and Samuel Chukwueze as they are targeting a young striker.

According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below), Ante Rebic and Divock Origi will have to leave before Milan can add another striker to the Milan squad, while Lorenzo Colombo could be sent out on loan too.

In the meantime, Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada’s notebook has the name of Alejo Veliz highlighted. The Rosario Central striker stood out at the U20 World Cup with Argentina where he scored 3 goals in 4 games.

He has 11 goals in 22 league appearances and at only 19 years of age, his development has not gone unnoticed. It is Carlos Tevez who promoted him permanently to the first team a season ago despite his young age, and the Rossoneri deem him perfect for their youth project.

The management have tested the waters with the Argentine club and have learned that he would cost €14m. Veliz does not have an EU passport but it would not be a problem given yesterday’s FIGC ruling means Milan have a slot free.

The main issue is linked to the liquidity that will arrive from the sales: only in this way can the negotiation with Rosario Central begin concretely.

In the meantime, Milan are looking around and if the mercato throws up the chance to sign a striker on loan, that too will be evaluated.

  1. If there’s a chance for Alejo Veliz and he is great striker option for starter spot, then go for it. But if he is not THAT good, we already have Colombo, Nasti and Lazetic – We have plenty of young striker. I’d rather not buy him and give chance to Colombo.

    1. I don’t know much about him but, Moncada doesn’t usually spend 14M on 19 year olds left right and centre so I’m going to trust him

    2. He better than Colombo I think. Colombo is a pure poacher while Veliz is classic number 9 like Giroud. Strong, good header, very suitable for solo striker formation. He’s Alberto gilardino or Luca Toni type of player. We must sign him when get a chance before his price tag sky rocket

    3. He’s better tha Colombo I think. Colombo is a pure poacher while Veliz is classic number 9 like Giroud. Strong, good header and more suitable for solo striker formation. He reminds me of Alberto gilardino or luca toni.

    4. I wish, if milan going for a striker, it would be a striker that become a starter right away, and not just become giroud’s back up, or at least become a starter before half of the season.
Maybe a striker who is 25+ years old or something, who is well established.
Although it’s hard to get a cheap ones.
If taremi can come in cheaper i would him to join.
As much as i love giroud, he’s not getting any younger, he should be the back up now, just like ibra before.

    5. He is very very good has the perfect attributes both physically and technically.

He has the presence of mind of Abel Balbo and the stone coldness finishing of Batistuta!!!

Would be a feather in our cap for sure,

  2. That AZ Alkamar striker vangelis pavlidis IMO is someone Ac Milan should sort for as striker.. He would have a instant impact with his top finishing exploits..

  3. Isn’t this the third Argentinian we have been linked with in recent days? Clear Moncada is scouting different players. The not having an European passport isn’t an issue.

From what I’ve read, Veliz is probably closer to the kind of striker we would need.

  4. If AC Milan can sign this guy we’re sorted for Giroud replacement in one or two years,I have seen the guy played and one thing is sure if you’re good then you’re good it doesn’t matter the level of the league you’re playing in.What am saying in essence is that Veliz would fit into our system properly than Beltrán or Ruitegu would. For a19 year old he is 186cm tall which is still gonna increase with growth, he’s a powerful forward with very good pace and acceleration and very explosive in nature, he’s good with the ball at his feet with good dribbling and technical skills,so basically he’s a blend between Ibrahimovic and Giroud and to cap it all he’s a prolific goalscorer with ease.
