Tiago Santos is back on AC Milan’s radar and could become more than an idea as the summer progresses, per a report, since his price tag has been lowered significantly.
Last year, as we were one of the first to reveal, Milan were very interested in signing Santos and even made a verbal offer. However, an agreement was never reached with Lille and then, the full-back suffered a serious injury.

Price tag lowered significantly
As highlighted by today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below), the Portuguese talent started his rise to the top at Sporting Lisbon before moving to Lille. And no, they are not talking about Rafael Leao, even if they both have a similar development.
As an attacking-minded full-back, playing mainly on the right, Santos caught the attention of Milan already in 2023-24. At the age of 22, he remains a young player and even though the 2024-25 season was far from ideal with the ACL tear, the talent is still there.
From a mercato point of view, however, he has become more of an opportunity now as a result of the lowered price tag. If it was deemed too high before, it now stands at around €15m and this is a figure that Milan could work with in negotiations.
It’s true that a period will be needed to get him back into top shape, but under the right economic conditions, it could be worth the wait.
An idea with potential
The big question, as such, is whether he could be a target for Milan this summer? Under the right conditions, yes. Once fully recovered, Santos would be able to offer good defensive coverage and participation in the attacking phase, which is something that Max Allegri would appreciate.
Both the right and left-hand side need to be reinforced, with Theo Hernandez more or less certain to depart, while Kyle Walker and Emerson Royal will also say goodbye. Alex Jimenez and Alexis Saelemaekers could both be useful in the role, but they will mainly be used more in attack.
Santos, as the report concludes, could thus become more than just an idea in the next few weeks. Of course, Milan would have to offload the current right-backs first.
