GdS: Spurs ‘most likely destination’ for Chelsea-linked €35m Milan striker; clubs in ‘constant contact’

By Oliver Fisher -

Spurs remain the most likely destination for Krzysztof Piatek between now and the end of the transfer window, a report claims.

The Poland international started during Milan’s 4-2 extra time win over Torino in the Coppa Italia on Tuesday night but was largely ineffectual and was subbed off after 65 minutes.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport on Wednesday – as cited by MilanNews.it – that could have been Piatek’s last match in a Milan shirt after a difficult season in which he has scored just one goal from open play in Serie A.

The paper claims that Hertha Berlin have made an approach to sign Piatek, but at the moment the most likely destination seems to be Tottenham.

The two clubs are in constant contact and are negotiating to find an agreement on the transfer formula. The Rossoneri want an obligation to buy, while the north London side would prefer an option to buy, the report concludes.

Milan paid €35m to sign Piatek from Genoa a year ago and are understood to be keen on recouping most if not all of that investment.

Nicolo Schira reported on Sunday that Piatek’s agent has offered the striker to Chelsea as a potential replacement for Olivier Giroud, while PSG have also been linked.
