Some important decisions will soon have to be made regarding AC Milan’s future and the CEO, Giorgio Furlani, has flown to New York for a series of summits with RedBird officials – including Gerry Cardinale.

Furlani is currently in New York and has a series of meetings on the agenda, meeting with the owner Cardinale already yesterday to take stock of matters. The two will have more meetings as some important decisions are on the cards, as Gazzetta dello Sport explains (see photo below).

The people in question have reiterated that these are routine meetings, but if anything, it’s clear that more time is needed as so many topics must be discussed in person: a new stadium, structure of the management, transfer market, and a technical direction.

A new stadium

Furlani and Cardinale had a meeting yesterday to take stock of the situation in general, but over the coming days, there will be more meetings between the two. The owner has personally involved himself in the pursuit of a new sporting director and more, knowing that Milan have some important decisions on the cards.

Among other things, the stadium situation will be discussed between the two as this remains one of Cardinale’s main goals. The city council of Milan is expecting a proposal from Milan and Inter regarding San Siro, which involves the clubs buying it altogether.

A substantial proposal will arrive, with all of the details and complete with feasibility studies. However, the San Donato option remains open, seeing as there is no guarantee that the city council will accept the aforementioned proposal.

Sporting director and more

As said, Cardinale is involved in the pursuit of a new sporting director and he has been working closely with Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the matter. They both met Andrea Berta, Fabio Paratici and Igli Tare in London recently, but it’s still too early to make a decision.

The foundation must be right this time, from the sporting director to the coach, so it was decided to move ahead with caution. Furlani also has to get involved to evaluate the candidates and express a decisive, speaking on behalf of both RedBird and Elliott Management.

The shared idea is to expand the management with a figure that can be a reference for the team’s daily activities, acting as a link between the coach and the management. It must be someone who is willing to work in a team, as such, and more candidates could be revealed in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, Furlani will also be able to dedicate himself to other topics and other activities. It’s no coincidence that he had meetings with representatives of other areas of Redbird yesterday: there are many interests to cultivate.
