GdS: Steps forward registered in Milan’s pursuit of wantaway Atalanta star – the latest

By Nikita Fesyukov -

Josip Ilicic is a target for AC Milan, as the Rossoneri look to strengthen their offensive department in the coming days. And now it seems that a decisive acceleration could arrive soon.

The Slovenian versatile attacker is seen as an interesting transfer market opportunity by the Milan management and the player himself has decided a few months ago that he wants to leave Atalanta.

Specifically, as reported by Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milannews.it), the player asked his agent to find a new team as close as possible to the city of Milano where the player now lives with his family.

And this is also one of the reasons why Milan has been a favoured destination by Ilicic. Up until now, however, the Bergamo-based club demanded 8 million euros for their star player.

But now, as the report adds, the situation has changed. Atalanta are now opened to give Ilicic to Milan on a paid loan deal, presumably with an option to buy.

The Slovenian, who has a contract with the Nerazzurri until 2023 (with an option to extend it until 2024), hopes to have news from Milan soon.

Thus, the opening towards a possible loan deal is an important step forward in the negotiations. Nevertheless, the deal seems destined to be concluded only at the end of the transfer market.
