GdS: Stylsvig to leave Milan for Chelsea – the two figures that will replace him

By Oliver Fisher -

Casper Stylsvig will leave AC Milan after four years. The Rossoneri’s Chief Revenue Officer will take up the same role at Chelsea in the Premier League.

Born in Glostrup, Denmark, Stylsvig was instrumental in rebuilding the Milan brand with the launch of the Media House, The Studios, and doubling commercial revenues.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport write, Stylsvig was also at the heart of several projects that emerged over the past four years, including international expansion such as events in Dubai, New York and Asia.

Added to this is the renewal of the partnership with PUMA worth €30m per year, plus the one with Emirates. Ultimately, under his management more than 40 partnerships were added.

It ends with the turnout at the stadium: the average per game last year was around 72,000 fans at San Siro, while retail sales recorded the highest takings of all time.

Who will replace him? Two managers are taking on more responsibility and more power: Maikel Oettle, the Chief Commercial Officer who has been at Milan for four years, and Tania Moreno, the Chief Marketing Officer who is a recent arrival. Both will report to Giorgio Furlani.

Stylsvig will officially leave Milan in the next few days as his move to Chelsea is expected to be official soon. In short, his responsibilities will be largely shared between Oettle and Moreno, who will hope to continue his good work.

  1. Whatever about on the pitch where there’s been huge turnover, off the pitch there’s nearly been an entire clear out.

This is the context of a team that on the pitch met and exceeded expectations in the league and Europe, and off the pitch met and exceeded expectations in terms of financing and marketing.

This points to complete chaos on and off the pitch.

No business or other organisation could cope with this much turnover.
