GdS: World Cup success backfires as Milan take step back in Ziyech pursuit

By Isak Möller -

Hakim Ziyech has been heavily linked with AC Milan as of late but due to his success with Morocco at the World Cup, the Rossoneri have been forced to take a step back. This was reported by Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The winger is clearly looking to leave Chelsea in January amid the lack of playing time since the start of the season. Milan, having had their eyes on him for quite some time, were hoping for a solid World Cup outing as the final test.

However, as reported by Gazzetta Dello Sport, this has now backfired as Ziyech has done more than well with Morocco. They will face Portugal in the quarter-finals today and the list of potential suitors for the Chelsea man has increased.

And as if it wasn’t hard enough to reach an agreement with Chelsea on the transfer fee, Ziyech is asking for a whopping €8m per year. This is a figure that makes the deal impossible for Milan, who will delay their investment in attack to the summer.
