A shock new hypothesis has emerged regarding the future of Mattia Caldara as he could actually now stay at AC Milan and be part of the squad.
According to today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via SempreMilan.it), Caldara’s future is still to be decided. He returned from a loan spell at Spezia and did not go on tour with Milan to the USA.
Caldara has been at Milan since 2018 but has only played two games for the Rossoneri in his career, with his time at the club plagued by injuries.
Verona have an interest in signing him but Milan have not received offers at the moment, and among the possible solutions for him there is also him remaining.
Milan are looking for a fifth central defender to replace Matteo Gabbia and it is not a foregone conclusion that they will sign a young player from abroad.
Caldara could stay, and he would be useful for the composition of the squad list for Serie A and the Champions League given he is a homegrown player.
Some of these players deserve some chance. He has been at Milan since 2018 and has only played two matches,Lol. He has enough experience in Seria A to be buck up. We never know he could breakthrough into the team. Especially if the team is hit with injuries.
Or if we take off the rose colored glasses, we will see that he is so horrible no one wants him, and those that do, don’t want or can’t afford to pay his wages. because they are Serie C or Serie D clubs. He is another millstone round clubs neck.
Just agree a contract termination. Pay him to go away. He has only 1 year left on his contract anyway.
It was a bad transfer before it even happened.
He was forced to switch to Milan. He didn’t fit and still doesn’t fit Milan 4 men defense after playing in 3 men defense his whole career. And also he had 2 bad injuries on top of that.
Pay him to go away.
The pay out of his contract would most likely cost the same as keeping him.
True
Or rather let his agent club and he’d leave for free, we could even cover 20% of his salary to sweeten the deal. Like you rightly said it was a bad transfer from the start.
He is not going to take that if his agent is worth his money.
5th option. sure, why not
If a club cannot get something out of a player like Caldara then that is a failure of the club.
And what player wants to come to Milan to be our 5th choice CB?
Will you ever, stop defending players always? Okay he has, failed in Milan.. What rocket science, do you have to explain Atalanta, Venezia and Spezia not retaining him? Is it also the failure of those clubs?
We broke him, we should try and fix him.
The sheer number of flops points to a structural problem with the club and the sport.
There is far too much wasted talent in football.
As if prior to joining, us he was any good?
“If a club cannot get something out of a player like Caldara then that is a failure of the club.”

“We broke him, we should try and fix him.”
The hate and disgust you have for our club is unbelievable. Why do you come here? To bitch and whine? When was the last time to said something positive about Milan?
I’m….um….I’m not against this. Weird.
Give him a chance, at least he has some experience and probably a better bet than some random young player from who knows where, who has never played in serie A !! So many people on here are quick to hate before someone has even been tried out…..Good luck to him, hopefully he will prove all the haters wrong
“So many people on here are quick to hate before someone has even been tried out”
He was signed by Milan in 2018.
It’s 2023.
In 5 years he has played 2 more games for Milan than the “so many people on here quick to hate” on him.
Get rid of him and bring an able-bodied CB.
Guys guys this is just a possibility, 50-50 situation… Just calm down, the good news is this is still not decided yet..
It’s only rotation player for emergency situations. Probably behind Kjaer when he’s fit. Calma.
If you consider the departure of Gabbia, the registration rules, no new italian academy players arriving, no reinforcements at CB and you add to that the fact that Caldara was decent last year on loan, then there is nothing surprising about it. He’s now much more experienced an reliable then he was when he first arrived at Milan.
Home have soo much experience,
He was part of atlanta team that went for semi final in Champaign league
And were called free scoring Atlanta
I like him so much
Let’s just see what happens when he plays
