GdS: The dream and nightmare scenarios for Milan in the Champions League draw

AC Milan will soon find out their opponents for the 2023-24 group stage of the UEFA Champions League, and there are certainly a wide range of possibilities.

As this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) outlines, Milan are waiting to find out who they will get in the next edition of Europe’s top club competition after getting Chelsea, Red Bull Salzburg and Dinamo Zagreb last time.

The Rossoneri have moved from pot 1 to pot 3 and risk a very difficult group. The paper suggests that Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Newcastle United would be the worst nightmare.

On the other hand, Feyenoord, RB Leipzig and RC Lens would probably be the best outcome, though they would all have something to say about that.

Pioli will have faith in his players no matter who the opponents are though. New international arrivals have come from the transfer market, from Christian Pulisic to Ruben Loftus-Cheek. All the existing young core are a year older and wiser too, and they are testing themselves regularly at a high level.

Milan will watch Napoli’s results from a distance as well. Two Italian clubs will participate in the FIFA Club World Cup which will debut in 2025 and one will almost certainly be Inter, with the Rossoneri perhaps fighting with last season’s Scudetto winners for the other spot.

  1. Would SOOOOO hard to square off against Newcastle and see Sandro in a different shirt… I would love to avoid Newcastle just for that reason.

  2. It’s a NIGHTMARE – Group of Death…

    PSG
    Dortmund
    Newcastle

    Yikes

You better believe we NEED Taremi now….one injury or just fatigue to Giroud and we are in serious serious trouble.

  3. Now let’s see those new signings and the new tactic. I don’t care about matches against mid or bottom Serie A clubs, this is the real test to show how much are they really worth…
