GdS: Theo has agreement with Bayern over terms but Davies doubt persists

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are hoping that Bayern Munich’s interest in Theo Hernandez does not turn into a formal bid, especially given that the defender has reportedly agreed terms with them.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) reports that Theo is ‘one of the great variables’ of the Milan’s summer as a ‘curious international thriller’ featuring Bayern Munich and Real Madrid is underway.

The foreseen scenario, until a couple of months ago, was the same for all involved: Real Madrid were going to sign Alphonso Davies one year before his contract with Bayern expired, and they would then use that money to sign Theo to replace him.

However, Davies’ future remains up in the air and Theo is waiting. Bayern’s offer to him is not under discussion because a preliminary agreement on the salary already exists, but the Bavarians have not made any progress with Milan.

The clubs will talk about it later with a lot depending on how the Bayern-Davies renewal talks go, but in the meantime the Rossoneri are ‘not even talking to Theo’ about his renewal.

As we analysed in an article last night based on the information we have learned, Mike Maignan is a far more realistic candidate to leave this summer than Theo.

    1. How is it hard to believe a specialised newspapers with international reputation and sources within the football world, like agents, managers, coaches? Don’t you think that a player trying to renegotiate his contract would not ask around his worth on the market? Or do you have some intel because you know Théo and/or the Bayern management?

It doesn’t seem difficult to think that a world class player who has to play for Paulo Fonseca, for a team with a lack of winning ambitions would be open to a move in a top European team that is trying to win its domestic league (unlike Milan) and the UCL (unlike Milan) every year.

Now we can just hope that the management can follow Inter’s example to keep its best players and fckin give him the money he deserves. But the reality is that if you put a banknote in Furlani’s underwear, he’ll give you a lap dance.

      1. “…specialized newspapers with international reputation…” is NOT GdS, Bart. LOL!!! It’s a sensationalist publication.

        Come on, man.

        1. Haha I don’t like la Gazza since they are obviously in love with Jerry like he’s a messiah (maybe he pays advertisement, that’s how professional media are financed) but I think Théo’s agent would probably give them that kind of news to put pressure on the management. It’s the biggest sport newspapers in Italy and the fans who protest against the management read it.

          1. trust me just don’t trust gds, it’s all sensationalism there, i mean they went a whole week saying lopetegui is made to be rossonero saying it was done then they did the same with conceicao. They have no clue what’s going on

    1. I think they dont want to sell him now, maybe after euro, his price Jump from 80m to 100m and then, they will be waiting… but first I think they want to buy and made a contacts with all players which they want to buy and Theo’s renewal will taka a place at the end of mercato.
But after all he will be there maybe next 1-2 years, then he will go tu Real or City

    2. Would be surprised if Theo left Milan for Bayern. Presently, they are not a big force in the Champions league, and their dominance in the Bundesliga is fading. He has grown a lot at Milan, and it would be disappointing to see him leave since the club is not saying anything about selling him to raise funds.

  1. Chances are our owners will sell Mike and Theo.

If like Napoli (Kvara), our owners came out and said they absolutely will do everything to convince him to stay, ok, instead all we hear is no-one is safe if a big bid comes in.
This always affects a players decision, if they feel the club are desperate to keep them, they are likely to stay, if they feel they are just a number who will be sold for enough money, they likely leave on their own terms to a team of their choosing

    1. Milan doesn’t have to sell anyone, unless a player either asks to leave or asks for bonkers numbers, in the case of Mike. Then you sell them.

No one is asking to leave Milan, especially Theo. Being open to a move is not the same as wanting to leave. As for Mike, if he keeps asking for those numbers, then hell yes, sell him.

      1. Most transfers are agreed in principle long before the contracts are made and signed.

The only way to keep a player of the caliber of Theo is
        1. offer him money that reflects his status
        2. Convince him the project is ambitous
        3. Do everything in your power to keep them, including refusing to negotiate with suitors.

I don’t believe our ownership is doing those things.

I hope everything works out best for Milan, but these owners have shown nothing to suggest this summer will be a good one for the club.
We may well sign Zirkzee and Fofana etc, but it’s all for nothing if Theo leaves. Just treading water, until the following summer when another star leaves and we “reinvest” the money.

LOCK down our stars, don’t let them leave, reinforce the team and win something. Then next summer everyone will be happy to stay!

        1. Some people still refuse to see that we embraced the trading philosophy despite every move from the management clearly showcasing it. Milan partnered with magic Beane and his moneyball algorithm, Milan promoted a scout, Moncada, at the helm of football operations, we sold our best midfielder to be able to buy many bargain players that we could sell for more later, we are linked with players who are able to be sell later for more (Zirkee, Fofana fall into that category), as you said the management is open to any offer, Milan hired Paulo Fonseca to develop youngsters, Milan is investing in the youth team, etc.

It’s hardly a surprise to see bankers managing Milan like players are assets, investments, while Jerry said that running a football club is no different from running a widget factory. Even if I’m glad that Camarda is still here, I’m not confident that we can keep him for many years with that management.

        2. They mentioned his negotiation is not underway at the moment, they put it on the backseat. So that doesn’t bode too well.
