GdS: World Cup winning playmaker emerges as €15-20m target for Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

A new name has emerged in AC Milan’s mission to strengthen the attacking department in Atlanta United star Thiago Almada, a report claims.

According to today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via SempreMilan.it), Milan are working to strengthen their attacking options in view of next season, particularly in the No.10 and right winger roles.

Almada is the latest name to enter the list of targets, a 22-year-old who can play either as an attacking midfielder or on the wing. He is currently at Atlanta United in the MLS, and was part of the World Cup winning Argentina squad.

Although the arrival of Daichi Kamada on a free transfer seems to be close, with a four-year contract worth €3m net per season ready to be signed, the departure of Brahim Diaz and the uncertainty surrounding Charles De Ketelaere means Almada could arrive regardless.

Almada has played 16 games in the current season, scoring 7 goals and adding 8 assists. His valuation is between €15-20m while his contract with Atlanta will expire in 2025.

  1. He is very good.
But no way he will be available for only 15-20 mil.
I think they bought him just a year ago for 15 mil and he has been balling in MLS.

  2. If we can manage him around that money it’s a real steal for us he is a perfect unpolished diamond but patience will be required….he can be a useful addition to a roaster…..but then again nothing concrete I guess

    1. He is not a winger, he played 2 games on the wing in the last 3 seasons. 100% central attacking midfielder. They paid 15M for him and he has been great so I doubt it would be under 25-30M to get him…

        1. Yeah, but he will be expensive if Milan is expecting to pay him 15M. Literally no reason for Atlanta to sell their best player for the same money they bought him for. And I personally don’t see a reason for him joining if Kamada is coming. Milan is missing about 5 other players apart from that position.

  3. Milan is always speculating without any real moves, stupid new owners are making things worse.
Get chukwueze for the wing then I’ll know we are serious, if not, then it’s just another senseless mercato.

    1. You’ve probably never heard of Chukwueze before his name popped up in the same media that you’re now criticizing? Now he has to be signed or Milan mercato is a failure? LMAO!!! Stay on the couch, man.

  4. Have been signing him PES for the last few additions, always develops into world class as many wonderkids in PES do in real life.

So does Moncada work for us and ‘moonlight’ for PES or IS it vice versa !

    1. I can see a lot were mentioned but you forgot the most important one, Andrés Guglielminpietro. 😀
I had to copy paste his last name.

    2. Your mind is stuck for Argentine=Inter, Brazilian=Milan, or in the 90’s Germany=Inter, Netherlands=Milan. Now some people in the future will tell Frenchman=Milan

      1. Funny that we have half of the guys in the roster from Belgium but they’re all so bad that no one will remember that. 😛

  5. This could be a genius move. I don’t know much about him, but Rodney Marsh was on the radio a while ago and was literally wetting his pants about Almada saying he had everything and would be a great signing for a prem team.

    It’s a gamble though

  6. Almada is stellar at MLS level. Hard to say wether his talents will translate onto Serie A. Could be like a fish in the water, or another CDK… But he’s young and can be bargained with reasonable wages. Great prospect.

  7. Ernest Nuamah of Norgeland will be a cheaper option at the right wing. Who is the player of the season in Denmark.
