GdS: Thiaw’s return imminent as Pioli highlights potential comeback game

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli will soon have Malick Thiaw back at his disposal, with the centre-back closing in on making his return to the field.

According to what is being reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) this morning, Thiaw is getting ever closer to being able to take to the field again having been out for over a couple of months.

During his press conference on the eve of the Napoli game, Pioli said: “Thiaw has joined the group. If all goes well he will be called up for Rennes on Thursday.”

The German, who was injured at the end of November against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League (severe myotendinous injury of the biceps femoris of the left thigh) will be the first to return among the injured centre-backs .

After him it will be the turn of Fikayo Tomori and Pierre Kalulu. Next week will be very important for them, and over the weekend we will have a more precise idea of when they might be back, but things are going to plan.

The Englishman has been out since 22 December when he suffered a myo-tendon injury to his right hamstring against Salernitana, while the Frenchman has been out since the first leg against Napoli at the end of October (injury to his left rectus femoris tendon).

  1. Gabbia has been in spectacular form and has to continue playing.
Gabbia and Tomori for CB. Thiaw is good but he makes some mistakes that costs us and has cost us. Against Inter and Juve just don’t want to go there
