GdS: Three-way race for Santos starlet – the letter from Juventus and Milan’s position

By Oliver Fisher -

The Kaio Jorge saga has taken another twist as Juventus have stepped up their attempts to beat the competition and sign him, a report claims.

According to this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Calciomercato.com), Juve are trying to overtake Milan in the race for the 19-year-old Brazilian striker and they actually sent a written communication dated 26 July 2021 to the Santos president.

It reads as follows: “Dear Mr. Andres Enrique Rueda Garcia, with reference to the player Kaio Jorge, we know that the registration period with the Santos will expire on 31 December 2021. According to the information in our possession, the player has no further agreement and, therefore, we inform you that we will start dealing with him under Article 18.3 of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players.”

It is therefore an official declaration of interest from the Bianconeri management and one which clearly signals their intentions to try and sign him on a pre-contract ahead of the winter mercato.

Jorge’s contract with Santos expires on 31 December 2021 and as per the report Milan would also be willing to make an offer to the Brazilian club try and buy him immediately, but are not willing to participate in market auctions. In the background remains the interest of Benfica.
