GdS: Tonali decisive as captain of Italy’s U21 side – ‘He really made a difference’

Sandro Tonali has started this very well, not only getting his first goal for AC Milan, but also performing on the highest level for Italy’s U21 side. As captain of the team, he bagged two assists last night.

The Azzurini beat Luxembourg by a scoreline of 3-0 and Tonali had a hand in all three goals. He was only awarded two assists, though, because the second goal was deemed as an own-goal by the home side.

Today’s edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport praised Tonali and made it clear that he could soon be back with the senior national team. In their ratings, as cited by MilanNews, the midfielder was given a 7/10 with the following motivation.

“The game flows more naturally from his feet: yes, maybe he really made a difference,” it read.

It’s clear that the former Brescia man couldn’t have started the season in a better way and this is indeed nice to see. His first season at Milan wasn’t easy but now he’s ready to prove all the doubters wrong.
