GdS: Tonali shows his first flash of class – his path of adaptation and growth is continuing

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali was given another chance to show what he can do during Thursday night’s draw with Lille, and he made an impact.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport report (via MilanNews), the former Brescia star had a new chance from the first minute and finally showed a first flash of his class with a fantastically weighted pass for Rebic that led to Castillejo’s goal.

The young midfielder appeared to be growing in confidence even if it is evident that he is not yet in top form. He did not perform well in the reverse fixture at San Siro again against Lille, but Tonali showed on Thursday night that he can begin carve out more space and give rest to Bennacer and/or Kessie.

So far, the Rossoneri No.8 has only really found space in the Europa League, but his path of adaptation and growth is continuing and is starting to bear fruit.

It is not easy for any young player to arrive at a top club like Milan and in a team that is a well-oiled machine – look at Bennacer, Leao and Theo for example who took time to adapt – but the hope is that Tonali’s road to an increasingly leading role has started.
