GdS: Last two training sessions key to Fofana’s potential Lazio start

Paulo Fonseca is keen to hand Youssouf Fofana his first AC Milan start when the Rossoneri go away to Lazio this weekend and the next two training sessions will be extremely important.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Radio Rossonera), the new coach is incredibly keen to get Fofana in the team as soon as possible as he is convinced the Frenchman can help turn the poor start to the season around.

Fofana arrived from AS Monaco having played in the 2024 European Championship and has had a disrupted pre-season, meaning he has not been fit enough to start yet.

Fonseca would like to start him against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico this weekend in what has already become a must-win game for Milan, but fitness remains an issue.

The last two training sessions before Milan make the trip south to the capital will be crucial when it comes to determining whether Fofana has the legs to start in midfield or if he will be limited to another cameo from the bench.

The belief is that Fonseca would like to start games with Fofana and Tijjani Reijnders as the two midfielders behind the attacking quartet, but that has not been an option yet.
