GdS: Value of crucial Milan quintet has shot up by a combined €85m – the figures

The Milan management continue to do excellent work on the transfer market, which is perfectly symbolised by the growth of the youth players they have shown faith in.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) focuses in particular on five who have become protagonists of Stefano Pioli’s team: Davide Calabria, Alexis Saelemaekers, Rafael Leao, Ismael Bennacer and Franck Kessié. It is a quintet – the paper writes – which today is worth about €85million more than it was worth at the beginning of the adventure.

The value of Leao rose from €24m to €30m, and today Saelamaekers is worth more than double than €7m Milan paid for him. Calabria has made many doubters change their minds, and he now costs around €20m having come through the academy.

Bennacer and Kessié are now one of the best midfield duos in Italy. The Algerian, who cost €16m, has a release clause of €50m which can be exercised starting next summer. The Ivorian is Bennacer’s ideal partner and having cost €26m since his arrival in 2017, he is now worth €40m.
