GdS: A waiting game – Milan awaiting Monaco’s response after new offer

Signing Youssouf Fofana is a top priority for AC Milan this summer, and today, they have made a new offer to Monaco for the French midfielder after their last bid was rejected.

The Fofana situation is deeply frustrating, but should Milan be successful in their bid, they will reap the rewards for their attempts.

In the early stages of the mercato, the French midfielder was identified as the perfect midfielder for Paulo Fonseca’s midfield, given he offers a fantastic physical profile, but the road to him has not been as easy as once hoped.

Not only has Fofana given a move the green light, but he has stated his desire to leave the French outfit, which shows a statement of intent about his future. However, his club are difficult negotiators, especially considering his deal expires next summer.

As Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milan News) write, an agreement was found at the €20 million mark – made up of a €14m fee and bonuses – but after West Ham United’s bid of €35m, the offer must now be improved, which the Diavolo have done.

There has been a reluctance to reach a figure close to Monaco’s asking price – which is understandable considering the factors – but a new offer has been sent, and now, we must wait for a reply.

  1. Let it be, or better yet let them deal with West Ham. We get him in January for half the price or next year for free. Speak to the pkayer and tell him next year he gets an invrease in his salary

  2. Our offer is fair. In a few months, they will lose him for free. They may be holding out for Fofana to take a liking to an EPL club which is a possibility.
But I don’t think they will be clumsy enough to allow Fofana to go for free.

  3. The offer provided of 20 million is fair to the valuation of the player. If they don’t sell to us, and he only wants us, they may get 7-10 million in the winter or lose him on a free transfer.

The will of the player does matter.

  4. Bring in Kone now. Sign Fofana on a pre-agreement in December so that we bring him in next summer for free.
I see no problems with this.
If Inter can grab free players, why can’t we.

  5. Will this site ever fix its comments ? They can post 50 click bait articles per day put have zero time to fix the posting too fast bug, and comments not showing in general.

    1. Isak talked about this.

It’s an algorithm where if you scroll past the article too fast you get that message.

So I’ve found that if I scroll back up and then slowly scroll down again, then error is gone.

      1. Showing my age but this gave me a laugh and made me think of that Seinfeld episode where the key won’t work for a garage door.
“I said you’ve got to jiggle it!”
‘I jiggled it, the key doesn’t work!”
