GdS: Crucial week ahead for Milan after derby loss – Pioli refuses to apologise

AC Milan headed into the derby with nine out of nine possible points, having started the season very well. However, the clash against Inter ended in misery and has now overshadowed the positive start.

After a very frustrating game, almost from start to finish, Inter prevailed 5-1 and thus won their fifth consecutive derby. A clear misstep from Milan who tried to play with a high line (again) and got caught out on the counters.

As highlighted by today’s edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport (see featured image), the 90 minutes against Inter have completely cancelled out the positive start to the season, as well as the project in general. Next week, therefore, is sensationally important for a new and deciding evaluation.

Newcastle and Verona at home will tell what the relationship is between the impressive side we saw before the international break and the scared, as well as flawed, team we saw against Inter.

Pioli’s season depends on it, frankly, and he didn’t help his cause either by refusing to apologise to the fans afterwards. The manager stated that he was sorry for the fans, but that they shouldn’t apologise because they didn’t lose ‘on purpose’.
