Olivier Giroud has returned to Italy after sustaining a minor injury while on international duty with France. The striker should be back in time for the derby and a schedule has been drawn up by the medical staff.
After scoring four goals in the first three games, an injury was the last thing Milan wanted to hear about. However, as per the latest reports, it seems Giroud will make it back in time for the derby.
The medical staff of Milan will begin the recovery process today and the 36-year-old should be back in group training on Thursday, per Gazzetta Dello Sport (see photo below). Should things go really well, he could be back in the group on Wednesday.
Stefano Pioli also has Noah Okafor and Luka Jovic in the squad, with the former currently the favourite as Giroud’s deputy. Jovic has not even made a training session with the Rossoneri yet and will need more time to learn the system.
Okafor is fit and capable to start the derby
