GdS: Where Milan sell the most shirts and the top three player printings

AC Milan have experienced a commercial boom over the last few years thanks to new partnerships and their success on the pitch. This morning, some details emerged regarding the sale of the match kits.

The last few years have been very positive for Milan on the commercial front, securing new partnerships and increasing their exposure worldwide. Their Champions League run last season also resulted in over €125m in revenue.

In today’s edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport (see photo below), some figures were highlighted and above all the sale of the kits. So far, the most popular players to get on the back have been 1. Christian Pulisic, 2. Rafael Leao and 3. Theo Hernandez.

On average, Milan sell 300k kits around the world per year and the best markets this time out have been 1. Italy, 2. United States and 3. France. Another interesting point highlighted by the newspaper is the fact that Milan’s overall revenue has increased by almost €200m since the 2019-20 season.

  1. So milan gets 30-35M a year and puma sells for 370M worth of shirts.. interesting it really is 10-15%.
What a scam man.. for the people who buy i mean

    1. The 30-35 is merely the sponsorship money from Puma. Milan also got more merchandise money from Puma depending on the shirt sales.

      1. Milan don’t get as much from the shirt sales as you think. But if the numbers keep climbing, Milan will continue renegotiating the sponsorship deal for bigger annual sums.

PUMA essentially gambled on Milan and WON BIG.

        1. This is why contracts get renegotiated down the line, smartypants. But business is beyond your conceptual understanding. They know what their doing.

          1. lmao you’re the one crying about a sponsorship deal that you have no understanding about.

I mean if you hate this team so much and everything they are about, then go cheer on a different one then?

          2. im the one crying and youre the one poking for no foking reason at all.. if you need attention so foking much, fine, here it is..
            now grow up will ya

    2. I think, it’s not how it works. ACM make the jersey, and Puma put their brand on it, but it’s still ACM who sell it. That’s why it’s always ACM who design the jersey every year.

And that’s why Pulisic is very interesting transfer. Pulisic almost fund his own transfer fee with this new revenues.
If it’s not ACM’s revenue, of course Puma should pay so much more. And no use to find players with high profile.

  2. Yea, no, you guys were right. American Ownership is clueless, right?! Double the Revenues in 3 years and eliminate debts. What club would want that…. Pshhhhhhhh…

(Looks like I was right about Puli outselling the jerseys. I think this will carry into the rest of the season)

    FORZA MILAN ⚫️🔴

    1. Puke was a commercial signing as confirmed by Furlani. If Pioli actually sticks with 4-3-3 (doubtful), he doesn’t start. Anything he does well on the pitch is a bonus.

      🔴⚫*

      1. Yeah assuming Pulisic is picked on merit rather than being promised a guaranteed 1st XI place, his signing is actually v good as it pays for itself in merchandise / commercial revenue.

I keep reading Pioli convinced him to join by guaranteeing him a starting role, but surely sporting integrity comes into play and you are picked on form?

As many others have commented, if everyone’s fully fit, Pulisic could start at no.10 in 4231 but if we switch to 433 then surely he won’t start ahead of Leao or Chukwueze on the wings?

Still. Commercial numbers look good and this will hopefully mean we can continue to spend even next summers transfer window.

      2. Don’t puke. 🤮 Puli is ok in the middle and a great back up for Leao. Pioli will fluctuate between 4-3-3 and trusted 4-2-3-1

Commercial value is a byproduct. That’s what’s I call an all around great signing. Provided he stays healthy of course.

    2. It will all come down to the most important thing in sports. Winning.

If they do that, everyone will be happy and they will make money. If they don’t the brand declines.

We’ll see what the future holds.

    1. Kit price if we count in jersey , socks , shorts and customisations can go up to 250 EUR and on average that translates to 75 M. But I think it’s more between 50-75 M.

Milan pockets maybe 10-15% of that.

  3. what is matter is to me is that milan must up due to the championleague competition must reach in atleast quarterfinal each year

  4. Looking at the figures doesn’t it make more sense for the club to make its own jerseys and sell independently

    1. Yeah, like they have the know how or facilities to do that. Why don’t you build your own car and cut out the middleman, I’m sure it will be better made and cheaper.

  5. It’s really interesting Leao is still second. I thought he’d be #1 even with the new signings.and Ibra and Tonali gone. Puli has had a bigger impact in that sense than him. Also I’m surprised Portugal isn’t top 3 for region sales. It must mean the ppl who buy Leao shirts are Italians and/or the Portuguese market is untapped. This is quite interesting 🤔
I wonder what the gap between Puli and Leao is 🤔
