GdS: Why Inter will make more in revenue from their home leg compared to Milan

Inter will earn more from the ticket sales for their home leg of the semi-final against AC Milan compared to their rivals, a report claims.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Calciomercato.com), the Nerazzurri will collect more money than the Rossoneri which is the result of a pricing policy – especially in high-level sectors – which is slightly higher than in the first leg.

Milan’s home game did nonetheless set a historic record in Italy in terms of ticket revenues with over €10m obtained, but the current forecast is that Inter will get around €12m because they have charged more pretty much across the board.

The Champions League fever brought about by the derby has pushed up both prices and the will of the fans to launch themselves into often crazy spending, and when demand exceeds the availability of seats by a great deal, a circle develops as always that is difficult to control.

One of the consequences of this is that tickets are put on a resale market at even higher figures, and this ‘scalping’ is something that the Nerazzurri are trying to contain.

The club have communicated that they will prevent the renewal of season tickets for members who, after having legitimately purchased tickets for relatives and friends in the pre-emption phase, have then resold them at a higher price.
