One of the names that never goes away in AC Milan’s search for a new striker is Jonathan David, and the ‘Fonseca factor’ could help land him.
La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) have provided an update on Milan’s hunt for a new centre-forward, talking about Joshua Zirkzee, Benjamin Sesko and Serhou Guirassy as being candidates.
However, there are hurdles to leap over before signing any of them, such as transfer fee, salary and competition from other clubs around Europe, which is why other names might enter the frame.
After the new head coach is made official, the choice of No.9 will become the big issue and it is logical that the manager will have a say in who he thinks will work best with his style of play.
Jonathan David, of Fonseca’s Lille, will surely enter the discussions at Casa Milan if the Portuguese moves from the status of being the big favourite to becoming officially announced.
It is logical that he might then look back to a Lille side which got top four this season and thanks largely to David’s goals. He led the line for him in his 4-2-3-1 system, and scored 26 times this season across all competitions.
