GdS: Why Kalulu remains unconvinced by the idea of joining Juventus

Juventus have been trying to convince Pierre Kalulu to leave AC Milan and join them for a few days now, but it seems as though he has not been won over yet.

As we reported exclusively a few days ago, just when it looked as though Kalulu’s move to Juventus would be pushed through very quickly, there has been a slowdown in the negotiations and it is down to the player himself.

Today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) has offered an update on the negotiations that could see Kalulu swap red and black for black and white, given that there is a deal already in place between the clubs.

Indeed, the Bianconeri have already reached an agreement with Milan on the basis of a paid loan with an option to buy, but the green light from the Frenchman is still missing. He has asked for the weekend to make a decision, and the fact there has not yet been a positive response worries Juve.

The formula of the deal is one of the doubts that Kalulu reportedly has about the operation because would have preferred to start a new chapter in Turin with a permanent transfer or even a loan with an obligation to buy .

In recent days, Kalulu was called by the Juventus head coach Thiago Motta who strongly wants him given his versatility as a centre-back and right-back, but La Gazzetta imply that the conversation did not have the desired effect.

    1. You are absolutely right. Thiaw playing instead of Kalulu and Gabbia? Let’s not joke anymore! Thiaw needs to be sold for whatever he’s going for, just go.

    2. I think most scouts disagree based on their capabilities – Thiaw isn’t playing well at the moment but has a higher ceiling.

Kalulu, I understand being reluctant about Juventus if he’s liked for versatility as it might just mean more time on the bench – respect for him if he wants to be guaranteed starts somewhere instead.

  1. Our brother have seen how idiotic our defence was and figured out that his destiny is to be in our first line up soon.
His quality has nothing with selling him, they just need a victim to sell and get money.

  2. The idea of giving him to Juve was a big mistake, maybe he felt he needs to leave to play, that’s why it came up, what the club needs to do is keep him, and get rid of Calabria, we could us him to snag Chiesa, Kalulu is far better than Calabria, then with Royal and Kalulu we are ok, and the issue of solving both the homegrown and Italian quota which will occur with Calabria’s departure, we could promote Coubis, who is homegrown, and has an Italian passport, then if we snag Chiesa in exchange for Calabria, he have one more Italian in the mix, as for Thiaw, he will prove doubters wrong, he just needs time and constitency…

  3. Kalulu should be kept. Much rather sacrifice Thiaw to Newcastle for 35m than Kalulu. Newcastle wont pay 60m for Crystal Palace CB so its likely they will return for Thiaw.

  4. I’m in agreement with most of what’s been said here. Kalulu should be kept and Thiaw should see the exit door. 1 of these players has been given way more chances that the other when both are available and there is a clear difference in quality. Thiaw is way too prone to making costly mistakes and we can get more for him, it just makes more sense to capitalize on his sale rather than a more versatile, solid player who already proved his worth by helping us clinch a title.

  5. If juventus really needs a CB, they should come and take Thiaw as he is younger than Kalulu… Thiaw has been a nightmare for us as I av witnessed him scoring an own goal like two times now

  6. People say Thiaw has a higher ceiling…he played 116 games of professional, senior team football and still makes youth academy defenders look consistent by comparison. This man is always out of sorts, positional awareness is terrible and he makes costly mistakes in the worst moments. If a player his age with as much playing time under his belt is still not reliable now, he never will be. He should have been sold to make room for Kalulu and Gabbia had we received a decent offer.
