Gustav Isaksen of FC Midtjylland

GdS: Why Milan consider Midtjylland star to be an intriguing profile

AC Milan are having difficulties signing their number one target for the right wing, Samuel Chukwueze, so they are exploring an alternative option.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the management are keen on Gustav Isaksen of FC Midtjylland, a team that today has more than something in common with the Rossoneri because they too use the ‘Moneyball’ methods.

Isaksen ticks a lot of boxes for Milan: he is young, compatible with Stefano Pioli’s ideas, has ample room for growth and has a market value which is currently within reach but could explode in time.

In addition, he plays for Midtjylland, a club that has grown in recent years with the strength of mathematics and in which Billy Beane – known as ‘Mr. Moneyball’ and an adviser to Gerry Cardinale – also holds a share. This should not be overlooked if concrete negotiations begin.

Isaksen’s name has been in Milan’s notebooks for some time now and the player closed the last season with remarkable numbers, racking up 22 goals and 9 assists in 45 appearances playing mostly as a right winger. Two of these came against Lazio in the Europa League.

For Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada, the 22-year-old is among the most intriguing profiles because of his numbers. Several European clubs have already asked for information and Milan continue to study him.

Priority is currently given to the Chukwueze issue but Villarreal continues to ask for €30m for the Nigerian, an amount considered excessive. Milan could turn to Mehdi Taremi for the non-EU spot as a striker, then sign Isaksen.

  1. As far as attacking threats go, not signing Chuks for the RW before the start of the season would be an absolute let down. Pulisic could fit in there, but Chuks would offer constant trouble for every opposition with the ball at his feet. Having a good fast dribbler on the RW has always been dreamed of for years at Milan.

I think the management shouldn’t give up on negotiations just yet.

As much as this kid shows some promise, banking on him as an alternative to Chuks could a be CDK all over again🤦🏽‍♂️.

Moreso, If we really have to waste our last Non-EU spot in the team, I should be wasted on Kamada.

I thought you want Chuk? Who is the other non-EU? You only mention Chuk and Kamada.

    1. Hauge made excellent profit and Saelemakers has proven that he’s a Serie A level player, even if struggling to hold down a regular starter spot at a Champion’s League team. His value is supposedly double what we paid for him.

Those two players are both success stories for Milan. Someone doesn’t have to be Leao to be considered good business.

  2. Well nothing AC Milan can do about samuel chukwu, just pay what villarreal want or leave it and wait till january try again . For this summer just use pulisic in RW with deputy isaksen & saladmaker

  3. So we say no to Chukwueze for 30, but want to spend 20 on a 30 year old Taremi that pads his scoring stats as he plays for one of the biggest sides in Portugal? Tell me how this makes any sense whatsoever?

Sure Chuk is going to cost more than we should spend on a player in his last year, he offers more potential on a return of the investment made in him. Taremi is too old to spend more than 10 million on.
