A record-breaking crowd is expected for this weekend’s Derby della Madonnina, but AC Milan will be left frustrated with this for financial reasons.
The derby is always a heavily anticipated fixture, and as such, huge crowds are always a given – even in Milan’s current state. However, this weekend’s clash is expected to break a Serie A record that has stood for nearly five years.
As reported by Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milan News), the derby is a sell-out and it is believed that around €7 million will be earned for Inter with such an attendance. In fact, the Nerazzurri are only breaking their record which occurred in 2019 against Juventus – where €6.6m was earned.
Looking at derbies specifically, the largest takings were recorded last season when the eventual champions recorded a 5-1 win whilst hauling €6.2m in revenue.
Whilst this is a positive for the city, it will frustrate the Rossoneri, given they take part in a record-breaking game but will not see any of the revenue from this. Of course, this is no new thing, but seeing any rival, let alone Inter continuing to break revenue records – whilst the Diavolo hit 4-year attendance lows this week – is a frustrating thing.
For the Diavolo, though, a win is all that is on their minds currently, and the stakes are ludicrously high for everyone.
Build a mediocre team, and you lose money.
That’s the simple law of football.
You went after the cheap players, and you ended up with sport and financial losses

F*ck around long enough to find out and deservedly so.
Football is a show business. To generate more revenue, you need to increase the quality of the show through a quality coach and quality players.
Buy players such as Emerson Royal and watch the attendances go down by 20k. That’s how it goes.
Milan fans please buy home game ticket. Management want profit, they like and love your money. Even though they don’t give you trophy. It is trophyless cardinale milan.
