AC Milan must find a replacement for Theo Hernandez in the left back role, and a new name is on their radar: Archie Brown of Gent.
Theo will head to Al-Hilal to join Simone Inzaghi this summer, with further confirmation that the deal is done coming yesterday following the Saudi side’s elimination from the Club World Cup at the hands of Fluminense.

At the end of June, Theo made his decision known to the management of Milan regarding his openness to joining them, and the final details of the deal have been discussed. What it means, however, is that the management must now think about replacing him with a new starter.
Milan want a young left-back
During the daily video update on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, Matteo Moretto took stock of Milan ‘s incoming and outgoing business and he revealed a new name for the left-back position.
“A new name, an exclusive that we want to tell you about here on YouTube, which both Fabrizio and I have worked on. It’s a name that Milan is considering as a possible replacement for Theo Hernandez,” he said (via MilanNews).
“The profile that Milan is looking for for that type of position, and for that type of role, is certainly a young name, a name that can potentially become a top player, and today we can reveal a name that is on a short list of names, so there are at least 3.
“There is one who would be the favourite, which we will try to tell you about in the next few days, and then there is another who has a chance of actually becoming the replacement for Theo Hernandez, and that is Archie Brown.
“English left-back, U20, born in 2002 at Gent, with a contract expiring in June 2027, so in any case he is a player who has shown himself both at club and national team for his qualities. I can assure you that by asking the various insiders they also speak highly of him. He is a player with great future prospects.
“We will understand if Milan will want to sink their hopes on him, but I can assure you that he is one of the names that Milan is evaluating as a possible replacement for Theo Hernandez.”
Ruggeri would have been fine, especially with 17 millions. How did they miss him to Atletico?
Why would Milan sign a wingback when he need a left-back?
Is it that hard to watch games before you try to comment?
Are you so sure that it’s that hard for the guy to cover LB and LWB with the same efficiency? Do you know for sure that he has only performed as a LM/LWB during his (short, OK) career? Is it that hard to just exchange opinions without insulting the rest? You may disagree and even criticize, but with respect.
Milan already miss de cuyper to Brighton. I never see him play but I thought de cuyper more aggressive than this player.

I would be ok if that would be a proven good, quality player. But if they are getting young guy that so far showed nothing valuable, but is just promising, then really they should invest in some local-market players. Ideally Italians, from Milan academy. In short time they will not even be able to register they squad because of too few Italians.
Look what they did with Milos Kerkez – guy is currently at Liverpool, valued at almost 50 mil EUR. Milan literally gave him out from the academy, to right now scout for no-names in Belgium and pay 10 mil EUR for them. Absolutely ridiculous.
Current crop of Italians are dire. Just look at the national team.
Incorrect. They do well in youth tournaments. The talent is there, the coaches have been the problem.
I’m sure they are able to find at least few young Italian folks that are at least as good as Archie Brown. If not, then young foreigners with already experience in Serie A.
Archie Brown is currently playing in the mid-table Belgian league team, guy didn’t even make it to the national junior squad (played only 2 games in U20), not to mention the first team. Literally any young Italian left-back called up regularly for junior teams (From U16 to U20) will be from the start a more promising choice.
This is the problem with Italian coaches in general and the FIGC are too weak to do anything about it.
Antônio Gallo from Leece is a name Milan should also consider even if they sign Archie Brown.
This is the right one, he is strong, fast, defensively good, he attacks and above all he is not expensive..
Guy plays in the mid-table Belgian league team.
IF he would be doing good there, his natural next step would be to be taken by Torino or Fiorentina, get a proof that he is able to keep up with way better league (Serie A) and only then for clubs like Milan to be interested in him.
But so far he is just one of many in Gent. Worth 7mil EUR, nobody serious interested in him. Not even top teams in Belgium or Netherlands are interested in him. If he would be really a diamond, trust me, Brugge/Ajax/PSV would be already there to sign him up.

Actually if Barts would have been given a fair amount of playtime last season, people would probably ask for him as first LB. I personally am very happy that Theo leaves and was hoping for someone old like Spinazzola that gives security until Barts overtakes him mid season.
