German journalist confirms Dortmund star likes Milano as AC Milan and Inter links swirl

By Oliver Fisher -

Bild journalist Christian Falk believes that AC Milan would be in with a chance of landing Borussia Dortmund playmaker Mario Gotze this summer.

Bild (via bulinews.com) actually reported on Monday that Gotze looks set to end his second spell with Dortmund once the season is over. He has not played extensively for the Bundesliga side so far this season, making just 19 appearances in all competitions and scoring three times in the process.

This has led to speculation that he could depart for pastures new in the summer, and his contract expires in June meaning he will be free to join another club at the end of the current campaign. The Bild report credited Milan, Inter and Napoli with interest in the 27-year-old.

Falk has now spoken to MilanNews about the situation surrounding Gotze, confirming that a move to the city of Milano would certainly please the 2014 World Cup hero.

“Before the arrival of the Coronavirus, Italy was certainly an idea appreciated by Mario Götze. Serie A is definitely more suited to his playing style than, for example, the Premier League,” he began.

“There had already been contacts with Inter in the past, in this sense. His wife Ann-Kathrin has a great influence on decisions for his future. She is a model who often works in Milan, so there have already been talks about the city that both of them like.

“For the current situation in Italy, however, we must first wait for the consequences of the crisis before making a prediction on his possible arrival in the summer.”
