A statement on the club’s official website yesterday confirmed that RedBird are the new owners of the club, completing the takeover from fellow American fund Elliott Management, meaning that Milan will enter yet another new era.

As reported this morning by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Cardinale – the founder of RedBird and the man who will take the helm as the owner of the Rossoner – wrote a letter to the employees of the club.

“Dear friends, I am pleased to tell you that today RedBird Capital has completed the acquisition of AC Milan. Our priority is simple: to achieve new successes on the pitch and have a sustainable business off it,” it said.

These are reassuring words given the exciting period that awaits Milan. The challenge on the pitch is to try and defend the Scudetto while going further in the Champions League, while away from the field the new stadium project and the continued growth of revenues will be the target.
