As Calciomercato.com recall, Lazio secured a rather shock win at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona over Napoli, allowing Milan to jump back into second. Cancellieri and Basic decided the match, and the former then spoke to Lazio Style.

“We deserved it, we approached the game well and the goal came almost immediately. This made us feel more calm on the pitch, then with the second we killed the game. I know I can score many more goals or assists or help the team defensively like today,” the winger said.

The MVP of the match was Mario Gila, who gave another super performance at the Maradona, as Cancellieri acknowledged: “Gila is an animal, he deserves the MVP award because he played an important game after the injury. We’re happy to have him.”

Super Mario

The Spaniard will certainly be a key figure in the upcoming summer window with several clubs vying for him, both abroad and especially in Italy. However, the team closest to signing him are Milan, the source confirms.

The Rossoneri are one step away from a full agreement for the former Real Madrid defender. Negotiations are progressing quickly, and in fact, only a few formal steps remain, with the Spanish centre-back having already given his word to Milan.

The club and defender have already reached a verbal agreement regarding the contract terms (salary and duration) while further meetings will be held in the coming weeks to get the green light from Lazio, who are seeking a fee of around €25m.
