This summer, Fikayo Tomori is likely to leave AC Milan and despite the big-money move, Mario Gila will actually cost the same as the Englishman.
It has been well discussed how much Milan have spent so far, and whilst it may seem different, Gerry Cardinale is still the same. Indeed, he has claimed he wants to spend the Euro better than anyone else, and he appears to be doing that.

Gila for Tomori
In fact, there have been suggestions that Gila could slot right into the back three in Tomori’s place, and the Englishman could have even funded the Spaniard’s arrival.
MilanNews (via Calciomercato.com) have broken down the reasoning about the feasibility of the deal and how it may actually help Milan bring in another player this summer.
Right now, the former Chelsea defender’s amortisation cost is €7.3m per year, and he has a salary of €4.5m per year. This totals a cost per year of around €11.8m for Tomori.
For Gila, the cost of his deal is €27m plus €3m in bonuses, plus he gets a salary of €4.5m per year. However, he benefits from the tax decree, which means that the Rossoneri will only pay around €11.8m per year over his five-year contract.
We recently spoke on a bonus podcast about the matter of amortisation, so it may be worth checking it out, especially as we offered some examples during it. As a reminder, you can get one free episode when signing up for a trial!

Nice, actually looking at squad costs instead of ‘transfer budget’, I applaud.
That said, I’m far from certain Tomori will leave, although he probably does have enough value left to offer a notable English club.
Why notable? I mid-table PL club can afford Tomori. He’d be great for an Everton, Leeds or Fulham, etc.
