Mario Gila was forced off towards the end of AC Milan’s draw against Juventus last night with knee discomfort.
The final change came for the Rossoneri in the last few minutes and it raised some eyebrows with the team 1-0 up having kept Juventus at bay. The typically exceptional Gila was withdrawn for Filippo Terracciano, who slotted in at right centre-back.

Of course it would be reductive to say that one change led to conceding the equalising goal, especially given Terracciano was not at fault for Federico Gatti not being marked, but it is the third league game that Gila has not been able to complete.
According to what is being reported by MilanNews, the Spaniard asked to come off this time because he felt discomfort in his patellar tendon. It was deemed best not to risk further damage and so Ruben Amorim sent a replacement on.

The centre-back spoke to DAZN after the game to offer his thoughts and he confirmed that he felt something in his knee, which one would presume needs extra investigation in view of Saturday’s trip to face Lazio.
“It would seem unfair to say the team is struggling without me. I think they deserved the draw. We weren’t 100% fit; we lost a lot of possession,” he said.
“We were in the game until the very end against a strong team like Juve. I haven’t been able to finish the games yet, and that’s disappointing. Today I felt some discomfort in my kneecap, but the draw isn’t to be sniffed at.”
SportMediaset confirm that Gila will undergo tests today to determine his true condition, with an eye on the fact another big away game is up next, one against his former club.

We seriously need to take a look at our medical team… to many injuries…
Yeah too many, like Gabbia and now Gila.
Just check Juventus for example:
Cabal J. – Thigh Injury
Cambiaso A. – Ankle Injury
Ekhator J. – Muscle Injury
McKennie W. – Muscle Injury
Sarr P. M. – Muscle Injury
Thuram K. – Knee Injury
Yildiz K. – Foot Injury
The medical team doesn’t prevent injuries. They help players recover from their injuries.
that’s what they said about Nesta (Lazio), Mexes, Romagnoli, Kjaer b4 they join Milan.
not every young Italian CB is Caldara, i’d take Scalvini over Inacio anyday
if this is serious an he misses couple of games while gabbia is injured as well….. bye bye CL. Forza Milan and FY Gerry!
I do think medical team has a word to say in workload in trainings….
Gila’s replacement should have been Diawara.
If he is injured then we are toast because all the other reserves are not up to scratch. We really need to upgrade that department with two or three more quality players like Gila bar the injuries.. Aside from the starters on Sunday sell all the reserves. The one of the two players should start in Pavlovic role he should not be a starter he should be a reserve player. Of course, except we are ready to trade goals now and then for his development
depending on severity we could see as little as 1 week out but as long as over a month (and this is not a tear, a tear could mean 3-6 months out but he didnt tear it). Regardless, imagine if tomori would have been sold…. Gabbia out and Gila out vs lazio potentially means playing Pavlo, KDW, and terraciano, with maybe tomori and Diawara as subs lol. I would put Tomori ahead of terraciano….
And people want us to bring Scalvini🤣
bad news for us, good news for Tomori
Everyone blames our medical team, truth is each player has personal fitness coaches and their own doctors. Since that became the norm, we seen players push their bodies further than they used to be able to, also suffering injuries frequently because of it. Why deep rosters, medical recorss and reliability wins or looses you championships. The biggest questions scouts have for talented athletes isn’t their ceiling, it is wether they will make it and last long enough to reach it and stay there.
