Santiago Gimenez’s run of luck has been horrific and the AC Milan striker has certainly not had it easy in recent months.
Before the World Cup, Gimenez stated that Mexico would win the tournament and that he would be top scorer. Lofty ambitions, of course, but you have to back yourself. Yet, most would suggest that he was being rather optimistic.

After all, he was coming into the tournament out of form and without any real run of game time. It would be difficult to then head straight into the biggest tournament in sport and hit the ground running.
Unfortunately, he didn’t. His minutes were limited and the Milan striker barely got a chance.
Gimenez injured again
For Mexico, it was the case again last night. He was substituted into the game with the hosts chasing the lead and with England sitting back defending their lead – if there was ever going to be a moment for Gimenez, it would be then.
However, it wasn’t to be.
The striker went over on his ankle – very unpleasantly and you could tell it was bad straight away – and then crawled off the pitch in severe pain. Medics surrounded him for a while and he did not re-enter the field after that moment.
Initial fears were high, especially since it was the same ankle he injured last year. However, Calciomercato.com reports that he has avoided a fracture and any ligament damage, instead getting a ‘grade two sprain’…
His recovery time is currently unknown.
Please, sell him, for Christ’s sake, just get rid of the guy somehow.
Exactly my thought! This guy should be donated together with the hospital bed. No money needed in return. At least we will not watch him playing for ACM.

He will have no market value now and if we sell him we will buy a backup of Ramos. Camarda did not seem ready. Kostic we don’t know. I would rather keep him and hope next season will be better.

As reported by Milannews.it, after sustaining an injury during Mexico’s 3-2 World Cup round of 16 loss to England, Santiago Gimenez was taken to the hospital where he underwent tests that fortunately ruled out any fractures. The injury is a grade II sprain, which, according to Fox One in Mexico, is expected to keep the AC Milan striker sidelined for eight weeks.”

And he could be useful bench option. And gain momentum untill winter transfer market.
Camarda Nkunku can have more regular time. And Santi can be sold next year or in the winter
He COULD and he CAN but we need a MUCH better backup striker and we need the funds from his sale to finance this transfer window.

For anyone thinking this changes anything, I’m afraid it doesn’t. We were never going to sell him for his book value so at most he’ll be loaned out. This is at least good news and means he may be able to contribute to our season, although I guess it’s going to cost him a lot of pre-season.
He almost scored 8 goals at the WC , 1 more than Messi, Mbappe and Haaland !

Loan him to a club that will start him regularly if we can’t sell him for 20-25mil so we can recoup transfer value next year.
