Santiago Gimenez could have been the key to AC Milan getting a new striker this summer. However, he ended up staying.
There were suggestions throughout the summer that Gimenez could be on the chopping block. Rather than Milan putting faith in their €30 million January investment, it seemed more and more likely that he was to be someone else’s promising striker.

However, on deadline day, things came apart, with Gimenez and his agent posting messages on social media that they were staying, and this was communicated to AS Roma, who were involved in the situation.
Gimenez’s reasoning
So, with Gimenez taking the risk of staying, there are many things to weigh up. It starts, primarily, with his love for the club; he wants to play for the Diavolo, whom he grew up supporting. However, there is also a bond with the fans, as MilanNews writes.
After his later disallowed goal this weekend, he ran to celebrate with the travelling fans, simultaneously tapping his hand on his heart, where only the famous crest sat. The reasoning for that is he feels indebted to them, and he wants to repay them with performances.
Of course, there were outside factors, but had Santi not been adamant about his desire to stay, it may well have been different. A big risk that everyone needs to pay off.
I really hope he comes good for the club’s sake and because he seems like a good guy.

that info is false. But they dont want you to kwon the truth. Every 5 years, a team in italy will breake the leg of a player. This serves as a reminder that nothing is forever.

Exactly. With Leao I think he will thrive. No one else on the squad gets to the touch line and sends balls in like Leao does. Pulisic and Saelemakers aren’t as direct and cut back and forth frequently…timing runs can be difficult as a striker when you have those types of players in support. Don’t get me wrong, what Pulisic does is great, but having Leao counter his style will only improve the teams performance.
No doubt he is a good guy, and a true milanista. I wish him luck this season. I think that getting rid of him after only half a season would have been a mistake. Players need time to adapt to Serie A and to gel. I still believe in him. Certainly his first touch is lacking but he does finish well when he has the opportunity. I actually think that he is better than Dovbyk and a swap would have benefitted Roma more than AC Milan. Forza Gimenez!
He needs
1) A strike partner.
2) Midfielders to give more supply to him.
These ingredients are all missing!
I truely hope he can now settle in the team and regain confidence.
He is clearly a good finisher and deserves to be treated with respect, as any person does.
At least if he gets a run of games and finds his form then we can judge him. But not on the back of last seasons mess and certainly not on what has happened since his return to Milan

I hope he is determined to show them up for fools, but I don’t think he owes them much.

the prolem for me here is pulisic formation. Putting our best player this far from the goal may not be a good idea
Pulisic remains our best finisher. Look over the last two years, he’s the most lethal player we have when he gets the ball in the box.
Putting him as wingback would be foolish. Too far from the goal. Goals win games.
I think you need Salad or Athekame there as the RWB.
Pulisic, Leao, and Gimenez should start with the 3 attacking roles, and then let’s just see if Nkunku is good enough to displace or rotate with one of them.
His refusal to leave the club even on loan has certainly rubbed some of the fans and perhaps even Tare and Allegri the wrong way.
Despite Allegri not liking him and Tare undermining him in public, he decided to stay. Was it done because of his love for this club or because of his desire to prove his doubters wrong ? Your guess is as good as mine.
But one thing is clear: he certainly has his work cut for him and a lot of aspects of his game to improve on.

But that can be a good thing too. Strength and belief in yourself are important attributes, especially for strikers.
Let’s see how it plays out. I have my doubts about Santi at this level, but I would love to see him prove everyone wrong and bag 20 goals this year.

I recall the January window. He seemed like he really wanted to come here. Not my cup of tea at that price esp…but as of right now he’s all we got and good luck to him. I’ll be cheering from home 😄 go score goals and prove the doubters wrong!
It’s gonna take a lot from him mentally to turn his form around after the spectacle of this mercato. I’m not a believer, but hope to get proven wrong.

With Leao coming back and modric moving high on the pitch I feel he will turn out good
Considering how the summer has gone, and the terrible form he is in, Gimenez is going to be under intense pressure and will need a to start scoring soon so that he can settle down. Having Leao and Pulisic on the pitch may help.
