“Gimenez isn’t going anywhere. All the rumours that have emerged, from the first to the last, are untrue. They’re fake news,” Rafaela Pimenta said.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has given the following update: “Santiago Giménez opens doors to AS Roma move from AC Milan.
“The swap deal with Artem Dovbyk to AC Milan can now happen — if the two clubs agree on terms. After weeks insisting to stay at AC Milan, club plans are clearly to sell Giménez… and Santi accepts.”
Matteo Moretto adds that Giménez is ready to bid farewell to Milan. The Mexican striker is ready to listen to Roma’s proposal and a possible swap with Dovbyk can take shape, with the latter already having an agreement with the Rossoneri.
The parties are in close contact to try to advance the talks before the deadline, which is at 20:00 CEST on Monday, so it remains a race against time especially with it being an exchange deal.

I think this is the best move for all parties involved. Dovbyk would fit in better at Milan and Gimenez would fit in better at Roma with how both clubs are playing with their respective coaches. The previous loan exchange with Roma went well (or at least not bad) for all parties involved as well.
The only good news of this mercato is that it’s about to end. Nothing underlines the comedy show that is RedBird more than the transfer market.

A lot of Milan fans were criticizing Milan for not signing Dobvyk last summer, same those fans will criticize Milan for signing him this summer.
Is he a great striker? No. But he is the profile of a striker Milan needs. A more useful striker than Gimenez.
Dovbyk is not good enough for Milan. He lacks some key skills. Also take a look at his 12 Serie A goals last season. 10 of them were against bottom-table teams. The 2 others were against mid-table ones (Bologna and Fiorentina).
That´s true but it´s against those bottom teams that we usually struggle to score. Against teams that want to play football instead of pulling up a wall, our faster players can make the difference. Milan has struggled against bottom teams for years.
He is way better for Milan than Gimenez.
And it was his 1st season in serie A. Dzeko looked terrible in his first season in the league and then he was one of the best strikers. And no, I’m not saying that he is the same level striker as Dzeko, but making a point that unless you are Shevchenko, Van Basten or Ronaldo R9 every other striker needed adjustment period to arguably the toughest league in football for strikers.
Most importantly, there are 24 hours left in the market, and beggars can’t be choosers.

Dzeko had ligament issues in his first season in Italy. That is why he was bad. Btw he would be better than Dovbyk, at 39. So would Giroud.
The problem with Gimenez is that he do not fit in to either of the roles Allegri want to play with. He want a target man next to a 10 like Nkunku. We need a striker who is able to hold up the ball for the quick players like Nkunku and Rafa to combine with. I think it makes perfect sense in that regard. Even tho i’m not a big fan of letting go of a 35 million player after 6 months.
Last season was Dovbyk first season in Serie A. In his season at Girona he scored against the big clubs and in the two games against Barcelona, Girona won 4-2 with Dovbyk scoring the opening goals and providing assists.
It’s not easy for striker to adapt to Serie A but he is definitely better than Santi Gimenez.
Gimenez was a panic buy and is a guy who can only play in leagues with little defense. There is a reason no one else wanted him. Dovbyk at least can push the ball past the line without stopping to move the ball to the other foot limiting his own space and giving defenders extra time. I have no idea who would Roma want him though. Gasperini never liked strikers like that. He literally always wanted attacking like with the guy in the middle who can get the ball and shoot and that’s it.
No. I’m not in favor of this move as it solves nothing.

I had the lowest expectations for Tare and Allegri but this is actually scary
I like and I’m rooting for gimenez but he doesn’t fit allegris team at all and he will suffer all season. He is slow, can’t hold up a ball and his touch is poor. Where he flourishes is getting clear cut chances. But with dovbyk I think he would be much better in this system and would probably score a lot of goals. If it’s a straight swap-dry loan for the year i wouldn’t mind it because milan need a tall strong profile or were in trouble.
I don’t know. I can’t help but feeling a bit sorry for Santi. He came in the winter window to a team in terrible shape. He played for Mexixo during the summer and arrived at Milanello like 3 weeks ago. I know he hasn’t been great but sometimes you have to give players time to develop. Especially in a new league. I think we should buy the guy from Roma and let Santi stay. But him being open to move probably means Milan told him they don’t want him. I think it is a shame. He’ll probably score 15 goals for Roma.
We have enough money to buy him outright, why are we even swapping? This is crazy work…Unless the issue is Roma finding a backup this late.
In that case, make it a paid loan for us with an obligation to buy once next summer window opens. With a heavy front loaded deal on the loan for Dob. Then a straight loan for Santi to them. He comes back next season when we need depth up front. They have money and time to explore options next summer without having to commit.
I think that regardless of the issue of strikers that fit the coach’s system, it’s very likely that Santi will score more for Roma than Dovbyk will score for us. We’re enhancing a rival and I doubt that we’ll get a lot from Dovbyk. Of course I hope that I’m wrong,
That’s just my fear. Santi may have a good time at Rome, while Dovbyk may flop at Milan. Wish we could keep Santi, and, get a loan deal for Dovbyk. An injury to anyone of them still leaves us with one, and Nkunku.

Gimenez to a direct rival for champions league spot seems madness. Luckily Newcastle are looking at dovbyk. Hopefully they get him. Gimenez doesn’t fit the system. But hasn’t really been given enough time. There’s something seriously wrong at Milan. They sign talent and don’t know how to help them succeed/grow. Dovbyk is a fraud. Worse than Gimenez. It would be better of they brought Giroud back even if I was always critical of him. Giroud is Pele for Dovbyk.
Sure, you often have outspoken opinions, some of which I can relate to and others that I can´t. But calling Dovbyk a fraud is definitly out of this world. Frauds don´t score 12 goals in their debut season in Serie A. I think he would fit our system better than Gimenez. No one ever had a tactic specially for Pippo. He was there positioning himself the best he could. He nearly never played the lone striker role as well. Saying he couldn’t head or should is a joke. He was also decent linking up. I wanted to say Gimenez is a poor version of Vieri but Vieri was actually good in everything that Gimenez is lacking. I really don’t know why Roma wants this guy.
I think Gimenez will improve, but not at Milan. The standards are too high to watch him improve at this slow rate. He really has had a tough time figuring out the system and his role. The amount of bad touches, lost balls and offside plays is inexcusable at this level. He has had a few nice assists, but factoring everything together he has been more of a detriment than a positive player. I don’t know if this is the best swap, but it’s time for him to go.

Gimenez had only a few weeks to work out the new system and requirements of Allegri. During that period since day 1 the media sniffed out he is not wanted in the team. Allegri started using 3-5-2, which does not work well for him, but also for Rafa and Pulisic (at least for the moment). Santi is not bad player and is not the problem. Even if he has different characteristics, we need those available. As a minimum we need him for depth of the squad, same as we obviously need 20 midfielders. But I guess next time Rafa or Puli is out, we will have 2 in the front Dovbyk/Nkunku and RLC/Salad.
And it’s another topic but by now it’s clear we can’t make a decent CB deal, something we couldn’t do for the whole summer. What’s the use of the 40m for Thiaw, if we basically sold a starter and can’t fill back the position now…

Vlahovic is worth 35-40 mil at least, because of the contract he is 15 mil. You can save 20-25 mil to buy, as exchange for his high salary.
Buy 15 mil + ( Salary 9 mil x 4 years ) = 51 mil. His worth 40 mil, so you just pay 11 mil for 4 years salary.

Seharusnya Milan beli pelatih seperti Gasperini di bandingkan Allegri. Allegri Pelatih yang suka membeli pemain yang instan,pemain tua dan pengalaman. Allegri dan Igle Tare lebih baik mundur dari sekarang sebagai pelatih dan direktur olahraga. Letting Gimenez go is such a bad decision. He hasn’t even done a full season at Milan. We watched CDK become better elsewhere so we will see Santi become better somewhere else. He needs time to develop and Allegri is not willing to give the time. Allegri is setting himself up for failure this season. Buying players and not using them and still looking to buy more before mercato ends. And we play just once a week for the amount of players in the squad. It is baffling
