Santiago Gimenez is still not training with the rest of the squad at Milanello, though he could still recover for the game against Atalanta.

When Gimenez came off the bench in the 2-2 draw with Fiorentina and then went off with a bang to the hip after a clash with David De Gea, the hope was that it was just a bit of soreness that would quickly subside.

However, the Mexican striker trained individually throughout the build-up to Friday’s 4-0 victory away against Udinese and it forced him to miss the trip. He was still feeling some discomfort and the decision was made not to risk things.

According to MilanNews, Gimenez carried out individual work during today’s session at Milanello too, because he is still recovering from the after-effects of the very strong blow to the side. There is, however, hope of seeing him among the players called up for Sunday evening’s match against Atalanta.

His progress will be monitored during the week, with the ideal scenario being that he returns to training with the rest of the squad in the next couple of days, to regain fitness and be a part of the tactical preparations under the eyes of Sergio Conceicao.
