Feyenoord's Mexican forward #29 Santiago Gimenez

Di Marzio: Gimenez will travel to Milan today with transfer ‘close’ – the latest

AC Milan have been all-out for Santiago Gimenez in the past few days, and the Mexican striker will arrive in Italy today, according to reports.

The past few days have been hectic on the transfer front. Several players have been spoken of on an outgoing front, while Milan are also considering a number of incomings. However, the most prominent idea has been that of Gimenez.

With the Rossoneri’s strikers underperforming, there have been dreams of adding another No.9 this January, and recently, the club have edged closer to a signing.

Despite initial problems in matching the asking price for the striker, it appears that the Diavolo have now done so, with Gianluca Di Marzio confirming that the Mexican will be in Milano today as the deal is close to concluding.

It is rare for clubs to allow a player to travel to a potential destination unless a deal is in the closing stages, and after a bid of €32 million plus bonuses, it seems that Milan are getting the man they have desired for so long.

Alvaro Morata and Francesco Camarda are set to leave the club, so whether the club will continue to browse the market in the closing stages of the window will be seen shortly.

      1. I said no such thing, Emerson. The reason for mentioning the low profits was to show that the club are investing heavily. They’re clearly not motivated by profit otherwise they’d bank the money and not spend.

          1. Show me where I said the club cannot spend money. You can’t. Not once did I say that. My arguments are consistent, Emerson, not yours. That the profit was only €4.06 million, you cannot connect the dots? You don’t see from this that they were spending as much as possible without getting the club into debt? It doesn’t matter how much they spend, Emerson’s like you still call them cheap because you have no understanding of football finance.

          2. Good job, Emerson. Where in those comments did I say the club cannot spend money? Nowhere. Which of the statements I made were false? None of them. All you have done is show that you don’t actually understand what you’re reading. Fortunately we’re in the AI era so for people with limited intelligence, such as yourself, you can get AI to help you.

            ChatGPT Prompt:

“With regards to RedBird’s spending at AC Milan, what is the writer trying to say? Please summarise in one paragraph.

1 January 2025, 4:36 at 4:36 am €200+ million isn’t cheap and I’m sure I told you last year’s profit was only €4.06 million and yet here you are lying through your teeth. Shows what kind of person you are.

Last year’s profit was €4.6 million. There’s a reason they haggle over ‘only €5 million’.

Easily (spend over €40 million)? No we can’t. Stop LYING. There was a €4.6 million profit last year. You can criticise the board for being incompetent, but to say they’re cheap is a complete and utter lie, that weasels like you have been repeating for 18 months. Get behind them or STFU complaining all the time. Are they trying to address the issues? Of course they are.”

            ChatGPT reply:

The writer is expressing frustration and accusing someone of dishonesty regarding AC Milan’s financial situation under RedBird’s ownership. They emphasize that despite claims of significant spending (over €200 million), the club’s profit from the previous year was modest (€4.06–4.6 million), suggesting that such large expenditures are unsustainable or misleading. The repeated mention of the small profit highlights the writer’s belief that AC Milan cannot easily afford big spending without financial strain.

That’s you owned. There’s nothing further to add. If you had any dignity or self-respect, you’d be embarrassed.

        1. There’s a lot that’s missing in that analysis. The club is allowed to lose €30-50m a year under FPP, if the owner wants to spend. Check Inter’s financials. If Milan had made, say, the quarterfinals of the CL instead of getting grouped they would have earned an additional ~€50m. Not to mention the additional sponsorships and matchday and merch etc that comes from having a successful club. You can spend more to make more in the world of football.

          1. UEFA have their rules and Serie A also have their rules. Elliot worked hard to get out of debt, it would be foolish to undo that.

        2. My God what a liar.
You yourself said they cant spend in the winter because they made only 4 million profit nonsense. While calling others Emerson fan.

At least be bold enough to own up to your own words.
Good God, a racist and a liar. Who would have thought it. Well I guess those two adjectives are not mutually exclusive. 🤷‍♂️

          1. At no point did I say they cannot spend money in the winter. Where’s your evidence? There isn’t any. What I wrote was:

“Last year’s profit was €4.6 million. There’s a reason they haggle over ‘only €5 million’.”

Work on your comprehension. How are you getting CANNOT from that? Do you understand the meaning of the word haggle?

And how am I a racist? Saying Moncada has a fetish for black players isn’t racist. Making derogatory comments about someone because of the colour of their skin IS racist, which is something I haven’t done.

          1. Posting what I wrote twice doesn’t help your argument, rather it shows you didn’t understand what I wrote the first time, nor the second time or however many times you read my comments, Emerson. I even gave you ChatGPT’s summary to help and still you don’t get it. What’s the matter? Did they use too many big words?

        4. This ChatGPT comment has no context to what you are saying. And to use ChatGPT to reply to me shows you really lack any basic knowledge of what you are saying.

Didn’t I show you below when someone wrote “RedBird should easiky be able to spend 40 millions” and you replied “Easily? No we can’t. Stop LYING. There was a €4.6 million profit last year.”

Didn’t I give you enough proof with turnover in other posts on this blog and that AC Milan are even allowed to spend even 60 millions in debt if necessary although they are under FFP observation? Someone in this discussion told you this as well and your reply was UEFA has its own rules and Serie A its own.

Now go ask ChatGPT what leagues are under the UEFA and which rules they need to follow under this governing body.

      1. Yep. They’re the fan equivalent of Emerson, a complete waste of space, an embarrassment. That’s why I’m going to call them Emerson from now on.

  1. The one we needed on the first place. Still remember many of members here praised Morata move as they said we don’t need a high profile striker as it’ll hinder the growth of Camarda. Such a balderdash.

As much as I despise this current management, credit where credits due. At least they do something to fix the situation. Welcome, Gimenez!
