AC Milan are not just thinking about signings and sales this summer but also the renewal of important contracts, with Mike Maignan’s top of the pile.
According to this morning’s edition of Il Giornale (via MilanNews), Milan have started contacts for the renewal of Maignan’s deal given that they are aware of his status as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
The Frenchman is one of the undisputed leaders of the squad and he is still under a contract that runs until 2026, but the management are working to extend that until June 2028 to give them a bit more peace of mind.
In addition to the duration being amended, the salary of the former Lille star would obviously also be increased as a reflection of his development and his importance to the club.
The paper mentions a figure of around €5m net per season to be offered to Maignan, which would make him among the highest earners in the squad, behind only Rafael Leao in fact.
Makes sense for us to pay him well, like Leao he’s a key player and we’d struggle to find better if we sold him.
I hope they match the salary of Leao to Maignan, we can easily loose some matches in his absence which we have seen last season.
