Another source is reporting this morning that AC Milan will try to make Lille star Jonathan David one of their summer 2024 signings.
The summer transfer window has just ended with Milan managing to bring in 10 new players and perhaps the only real flaw in the mercato was not signing a natural centre-forward who guarantees goals, though Luka Jovic did join on deadline day.
For this reason, some names are already circulating with regards to players who could arrive next summer and potentially take the baton from Olivier Giroud as the long-term centre-forward option.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reported an attempt to sign Jonathan David last Thursday as well as continuing interest from Milan, and now Il Giornale (via PianetaMilan) are also putting forward the Canadian’s name.
Milan will try to sign him next summer as per the paper and they are boosted by the fact his contract expires in 2025 meaning it will have a year left to run, thus lowering the request.
There are no more Italians to get rid of, so who will they sell to fund this?🤔

At the World Cup, David failed to present an alternatives up front. Barely did anything on the ball. Our midfield and defense wasn’t doing great when it came to getting him service either. He disappeared. I don’t think he will be a player that will translate in Italy. Under heavy pressure and stronger competition, he buckled at the World Cup. We looked for Davies instead of him often but still, he should have shown something. I have doubts about him leading our line

It was the right call not to invest in panic mode in the last days of the mercato – especially in a position like ST.
Yes, we might have an issue this year, Giroud won’t continue like that but looking at longer term, it’s OK.
We have addressed already some of the issues (most notably RW), we should not try to solve everything at once. We have one full year to find the right one. I am confident that we will have good options next summer.
