Giornale: Pioli’s job not at risk but next two games could change things

By Oliver Fisher -

The next two matches are vital for AC Milan to get their season back on track domestically and in Europe, but they are also crucial for Stefano Pioli and his future two.

Milan are without a win in four league games, including home defeats to Juventus and Udinese (both 0-1) and 2-2 draws against Napoli and Lecce from a two-goal advantage.

The great victory against PSG showed that the team can still perform at a high level but the collapse that followed in Lecce was a demonstration that something is lacking, which must be put right against Fiorentina.

Today’s edition of Il Giornale (via PianetaMilan) ramps up the pressure a bit. They report that if things go badly against Fiorentina tomorrow night and above all in the Champions League match against Borussia Dortmun , decisive for qualification for the round of 16, Pioli could be seriously at risk.

This week could be decisive for Pioli too, therefore, even if the management and ownership continue to back him and the club do not intend to do anything drastic after a few negative results. However, money is on the line and a season cannot fall apart in November.

  1. This club needs long-term visions, continuity and stability more than anything else at this stage of its development towards the ultimate goal to compete with the very best clubs in the world.
Innovative football and world class results should not be expected at this stage. Rome wasn’t built in one day and this analogy is in my opinion very relevant today when it comes to the future of AC Milan.
Fans should take these things into consideration and stop fueling a media circus around the coach that doesn’t benefit anyone. Firing Pioli at this stage is extremely short-sighted and would only lead to instability and desperation.
We as Fans also have a responsibility, not only the club, team and coach.

    1. sometimes Coach changes have an imediate impact!! but of course we should hold on Pioli and get 5th at the end of the Season and miss the CL. Because we fans also have responsibility..
Pioli is in my Eyes a limited Coach who cant beat Inzaghis Tactic.. he is good for Europa League Teams but not more.

    2. A quite refreshing comment but unfortunately you are speaking to deaf ears around here.
Obviously coaches can be sacked but people on social media will keep thinking that they are smarter than the professionals doing their jobs and if it isn’t in regard of pioli the focus will just be switched on to someone else.

    3. we are already in instability. have you watched any Ac Milan matches lately? Does that look like a stable team to you? Was it stable last season?

You’re here talking about long-term visions, continuity and stability after we sacked our directors in the summer and got nobody to replace them.. 😀
Whats one more sacking? For the greater good
